I filed my I-140 in July 07, I-485 in August with PD of June 07(EB3 India). Perhaps there may be many more like me with very recent PDs. Given that it is going to be a very long wait for getting GC, what should be a good approach for me? Use EAD after I-140 is approved (AC21 would be in place by that time) to make the most of the waiting time or play it extremely safe and stay with the current employer till GC is received? :confused:

Are fingerprints required for all EAD renewals? I am travelling on projects across the country and will not be at home to attend the fingerprint appointment if any. Is it possible to get a fingerprint appointment in another location. My address is in Texas, but my project is in Wisconsin.

I just renew my passport at Houston, TX. It takes about 3 weeks. After so many tries, I was able to speak with CSR and she told me that it will take 3 weeks (this is standard processing time). I have received my new passport along with the old last week.

Is this happening this year too - TSC is giving approvals and not NSC? Last Aug / September when my priority date was current - it was the same, i know of people who got approved from TSC whose PD were 12/05.
Also, it seems that all cases approved so far have an ND before 8/30/2007 so here goes again they will ignore PD and go by ND not even RD.

I called and enquired abt my case. I told I was beyond normal processing time. They gave me some service request no... and told me I will receive an email within 30 days. What does this mean!
This means that if your receive date at the center (which is close ND) is not before the published processing date, they don't want to entertain your complaint. Note that published dates is, up to which they believe they have handled all cases. It does not mean they have not handled, or are not allowed to handle, any case received after the published processing dates. But they don't want to entertain any enquiries on those cases. SR simply means a standard reply within 30 days, if your date is actually outside the published dates.

Firstly the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of un-used visa's is a clear indicator of poor USCIS efficiency. Even if the recapture visa effort bears fruit and people will get interim benefit it will do nothing to improve the efficiency of processing cases at USCIS which I think is the root cause of this problem. Yes there is also a supply and demand situation but unless USCIS improves the delays and backlogs may not stand a chance.

I called all the numbers and talked to congressional staffers. I was lucky that i got to talk to a person and not VM.
Many of them assured me that congressman is supportive of the immigration issues and will probably support the bills. Two of the staffers took my home address.
It is my first time calling congressmen offices and i was surprised to find it fairly easy :)

Today I got welcome letter just for me, but status shows "Decision" since May 2nd for both of us.
Welcome letter says that what I got is a courtesy, original notice has been sent to to attorney. Does it mean the cards will be sent to Attorney as well? My attorney is tough to get hold of, never responds calls or emails.

I am not sure how far it is true, but this is the content of the email I got from my attorney when I pressed him to file at the earlierst.
"As soon as we have these forms back, all of the evidence for filing remaining from you, and I review the completed filing, we will file it. We appreciate your interest in filing on the first day the filing allows. We will endeavor to do that. I should point out that the current bulletin allows for filings throughout July. It is possible that the filings could be discontinued later in July. We are in touch with officials in Washington about this issue and will file your application in a timely fashion for obtaining the benefit when the filing is properly prepared."

Speaking for myself, I'm not seeing the value.
I see IV right now going off and tilting at windmills that will have little effect. Stuff like the I-485 without current PD for example, will serve to both alleviate the immediate issue of backlog, and make those responsible less likely to actually fix the problem, all while creating a permanent under-class of immigrants who will spend decades waiting for their permanent status.
So...when I see them advocating for things that will make a difference, I might consider contributing at that time.

Booked tickets (4) - to travel on Jun 6th - 3 months ago. didn't expect dates will move.
Now, I know when filing is done on Jun 1 ( attorney said), we have to be in US.
Q1: Do we have to wait for receipt to be received by attorney and /or me?
Q2: From filing date, how long it will take to get the receipt? One day, two days , one week or two weeks or more.

You will need to be in the country to do this. However, you can file to reschedule within 84 days of the FP notice if you are out of the country.

I hope so. Some of my colleagues got their I-140 and I-485 approved at the same time when I-140 was filed with request to port earlier PD. I am hoping for the same...
Quick question; so when was your EB3 140 approved? or does it really have to be approved inorder to port to the EB2?
Can a person who only has labor approved under EB3 later port to that date if he were to get the labor approved under EB2?

Exact same dates and similar machine readable card for my spouse :). Original card was valid till 7/30/2010 - new card valid from 5/14/2010 - 5/13/2012. So she lost about 2 1/2 months.
