Is this IV approved? Please do not jeopardize by asking for things using IV letterhead/interface that have not been approved by the IV team............. There is too much at stake for the people who are still in line for GC (let alone citizenship)
I think there is no hard in doing so. Its part of the overall agenda.

Glad, you took pain to check and see all bulletins. Can you see India in 2003 bulletins? India was simple dispappeared from 2003 bulletins. It was no more "OverSubscribed" country as per INS. In reality in background Eb3 India was hold and almost all the year treated like step child by INS. EB2 India was doing good throughout 2003. Since bulletins kicked India out how can you know then? Mymajor source of information as usual was murthy.com and immigration.com. I vaguely remember murthy came up with one or two warning articles about "administrative" hold on Eb3 processing and severe future Eb3 retrogressions then.

This is a great suggestion, and thinking ahead is the name of the game!
I guess after Dual CitizenShip now in operation majority people might be interested in Citizenship and why not avail those benefits US passport is welcome in 3/4 of the world, for all the people who have travelled knows how cumbersome immigration procedures are in various countries.
Anyway Phase 2 suggestion of lobbying for including the the number of years of leagally living here in the citizenship count and getting an "option" of becoming a citizen when GC is issued would be great (because most people who have applied there GCs have been here atleast 5 years :))
The Guys who already have GC should also support this idea as they will be benifited by this as well.
good going!
So phase 1 has been a success, and we should now concentrate on phase 2!!!Go IV.

I haven't open any SR with USCIS , but some folks mention that when they open SR they get standard reply to wait for 30 days. With visa dates going back and forth, customer should open SR as early as month start so if dates remain current for atleast two month they can get some reply. If you wait till end of month and then open SR and if USCIS ask for 30 days and date retrogress , I bet you next reply will be No visa available.
Service requests should have a wait time of 3 months or 6 months.
If you make it 5 days, people will open one every 5 days and jam the system. The speed of approvals is slow because everyone is calling, opening service requests, lawyer request, Senator request etc etc every day. Visa officer may be responding to service requests everyday coming from customer service than actually opening a file and making it ready for approval.
Common sense is missing in people.

Yes, this is the best scenario. I guess when the DOL publishes the case status on their website, we will have a clearer picture.
Which report from DOL are you talking about. Have they published any report before.
Why will DOL move EB3 India back to Apr 2001 if they didnt have any approvable cases for month of Oct and Nov?

you are correct, those petitions from academia/non-profit are not counted against the cap, also they enjoy the benefit of being able to start working as soon as it get approved as against the other H1b where u have to wait till october if you are filing for the first time.

All,
I filed the online application for EAD renewal on May 3rd and required documents were sent to Phoenix drop box on May 6th. I paid the fees using a credit card. The EAD application was returned on May 15th. Reason a signature is not contained in the signature box of the application or petition. A signature in the "Signature of person preparing form, if other than above" block is not a valid signature for this purpose. Please sign and resubmit the application with the appropriate fees. How do you sign a online application? Did I do something wrong here? The EAD application which I received back from USICS is the applicant copy. Should I sign on the applicant copy or reprint a new completed EAD form. For the fees should I just submit the previous document showing fees paid through credit card.
Any response will be appreciated.
I believe you need to send the documents to NSC or TSC for efiled applications and not to drop box facilities. the drop box is for paper filed applications only.

Pappu, please close this thread.
First of all, the topic of this thread is a total waste of time.
We hardly have enough support, funding, time etc. to fight GC related issue, and here people wasting time on discussing Citizenship! I am politely asking these people if any of you have contributed any of your time/money/effort to IV, Did you? Simply hypocrisy.
And top of that people in this thread are using extreme foul language.
Please close this thread.
Thank you for having the sense to see that thread AND idea is a total waste of every one's time.

I think the PIO Card usually comes from Delhi. But, if you go in person, you could probably get a visa on the same day. You can get the PIO Card once you return from your trip

Tuesday evening would be a Congressional Reception. After that we would have an IV meeting with members to discuss IV next steps etc. So keep departure flights to be late Tuesday night or after. I would highly recommend being in the Congressional Reception. You will get to meet several staffers and lawmakers here and talk to them.
I wish I were there but, I booked my return on Monday. I am glad that IV is doing this event and wish more people come attend the event.
One thing that I want to suggest is - if such a important event like congressional reception is done on last day of advocacy, most people may not be able to make it because many will want to get home and get back to work on Wednesday. This is just my personal opinion and I may not know the real reasons, I am sure IV core have planned things in the best possible way.
I urge people to attend the congressional reception - this is very important. Lawmakers always want to mingle and socialize with minorities and immigrants because they want to know things first hand which are not covered by mainstream. This reception is a wonderful opportunity to mingle with law makers, industry leaders, and other people who are working for our cause.

PD: June 23, 2006
Used AC21 2 3 years back
Had RFE in 2009. Reuqesting information on my new position (current company)
Opend SR on may 3rd.
Received following reply. I am concerend. Any body inb same boat and what can I expect next?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The status of this service request is:
Based on your request we researched the status of I-485. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. Please allow extra time for an Officer to review your application. Furthermore, if all initial evidence was not included with your application or a question arose during adjudication that required a Request For Evidence, additional time would be needed. Your application remains awaiting review by an Officer and you will be notified as soon as a decision is made.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When did you submit your SR? I have done the same as well and awaiting a reply on it.

AILA talks about the letter:
http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=22870
"The Department's unprecedented decision to reject adjustment of status applications has caused needless hardship and disruption to countless immigrants," noted Rep. Zoe Lofgren. "It has also come to my attention that USCIS began returning visa numbers to the State Department as early as Thursday, July 5, 2007, due to their inability to review applications effectively. The Department of Homeland Security has once again demonstrated its inability to complete even its core missions. This debacle demonstrates the need for more transparency and oversight of the department's operations and procedures."
-------------------------
what does returning visa numbers mean? does that mean they still have visa numbers available, if that's the case they can't reject our applications

its different from person to person in so many ways, the above topics are good for general discussion but no one can generalize good or bad for rent vs own.. no way.. depends on many factors.. for some renting is the best option and for some people owning works best - GC or No GC is just one of the factors..
I own a townhome (20 yrs old) close to my work and pay $50 more than the rent in this location (marietta, GA). My GC just started (EB2).. it worked out good for me as I got a good 30 yr fixed rate. but thats my condition - I can't comment on someone happily living in an apartment - its their best choice for their circumstances.. Rent vs Own is not a absolute choice as good vs bad - in my opinion.. it just depends..

Good timeline.
Point 4.: USCIS has no need to inform DoS that all visa numbers are used. As DoS is the visa control authority it very well knows the status; in fact is the only one who knows the latest tally. USCIS can only ask DoS "how many remaining" to finish their game!
So is it possible that the following was USCIS' plan all along in a bid to (1) force applicants to pay the higher fees and (2) reduce the number of applications they would receive. So let's try and see where USCIS or DOS acually broke the law. BTW, the following is pure speculation on my part.
1. DOS makes all categories current in the visa bulletin dated June 12.
2. This screws up USCIS's plans. So they have to force the DOS to issue a revision before July 1st.
3. USCIS frantically starts requesting visa numbers. Even for 485s with pending FBI checks.
4. Come July 2nd, USCIS still hasn't used up all the 60,000 or so numbers, but still informs DOS that all visa numbers have been exhausted.
5. DOS publishes a revised visa bulletin dated July 02 where everthing becomes unavailable.
6. USCIS acts on DOS revised visa bulletin and decides to reject all I-485s filed on July 02 and beyond.
7. July 05 onwards, USCIS starts returning the numbers to DOS. This could be for applications that have pending FBI checks.
8. DOS now decides to use some caution before issuing August bulletin. They will probably not make all categories current, but will probably shift them by a few months based on June bulletin.
9. USCIS now gets all new applications with higher fees and a reduced number of applications.
Please add to this sequence of events if you think I missed anything.
IMHO, USCIS broke the law in #4. And DOS broke the law in #5 if it was aware that visa numbers were still being issued as of July 02.
Thanks,
Jayant

In light of nyte-crawler's post above on the conference process, the Pence proposal seems to be debated in GOP circles. If the conference is annouced, we'll see something like the Mike Pence plan emerge. That is why Border hawks like Tancredo vehemently oppose this...
http://www.teamamericapac.org/
I bet intense pre-conference talks are going on...
The only tlk that are being held is how to get to avoid the blue slip. How to get the revenue section be first included in a HR bill. till that is solved nothing is going to happen.....
