You are on H1-B starting your approval today(i.e OCT 2007 in your case)
if you leave USA, you have to get it stamped on your H1-B.
So you may need to have paystubs.
If you enter on H4,your H1-B will be abandoned and you no longer can work on H1-B.

I just started with a simple question "WHATS THE MOTIVATION FOR CONTRIBUTION(MONEY AS WELL AS TIME) FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T APPLIED FOR GC " !! Was that offensive ? Zen, the point is very simple. If you believe in this organization and what it does then you will donate knowing that IV needs the money to lobby for you, me and everyone else who is part of the community.
Lobbying is a very sensitive issue and it is not always possible for the persons involved to give you daily updates. Rather disclosing too much before time can have the opposite effect with people interested in lobbying against our interest mobilizing more aggressively.
Also bills are introduced all the time and there is not always enough time to hold funding drives to lobby for and against those bills. Moreover lobbying with the congress and senate is an on going effort and will require resources anyways.
However if you feel you want to be in the thick of things and know everything that is going on, then I guess joining your state chapter and being an active member can help you get some additional info. I believe volunteering your time is a lot more useful for the community than only money and if you can do that, all the power to you. I for one try and make my contributions to help those guys who are taking the pains to do all the work which benefits all of us

Exactly what happens when thousands of people contact senators instead of one fax from one organization with one point of contact just so that if some one actually calls back from the senator�s office we at least have some one who could explain the situation in a way that makes sense?
Also, I know how difficult it could be to get an amendment in just as well as you and I also know the fact that the real interest is in solving the illegal immigrant�s issue. The reason for that is the issue that the U.S has is with ILLIGAL IMMIGRATION. The EB retrogression is really our problem, not some thing that is going to raise alarms in the senate. Which is why any amount of hue and cry is not going to change the situation? We should be glad that the advance degree provision, recapture of unused visa numbers and exemption of spouses from cap will make way for a few people and in the process clear up the backlog in EB3 category. My lawyer filed my I-485 in Texas (Dallas). It was delivered on July 2nd at 10:33 am.
Now I am worried if he filed it at the wrong place. I read online that its ok to file at either TSC or NSC till July 30. Is that correct? Can someone please confirm??
Also will the application now be transferred internally from TSC to NSC???

Please let us know what can we do to help our cause here. I am ready to drive, meet, talk to any one I can to push things here. I dont know how much of an impact that would be, but even a little can help.

I don't think dates will go back again unless they drastically move the dates forward. The dates could remain stagnant for a long time though.

I was about to send the e-mail and then I decided to clarify this before jumping on to it.
I am not sure if I am asking the right question, but I am just curious what is the point in sending same e-mails to the editor of the newspaper ? From my experience in talking to them, they seems to be looking for issues and when you have something valid they print. Also a single e-mail from IV talking about us (on behalf of 6000 of us) and the issues we are facing would have sufficed ? Right ? or I am missing something ? I know e-mail as faxes work for political campaign to show numbers but not seen it in news media ?

Unless all of the 10,000 immigrants are going to bring money from their respective countries to buy homes, it is not going to change anything signficantly. You are proposing to take the money that is in the system, i.e asking banks to lend you money. The current crisis is credit crunch. Banks dont have money. All they have is mortgage bonds. There are no takers of these bonds. They are becoming junk. So, if any money from outside flows in, there will be some difference.
I have listened to a couple of speaches by Bernake in NPR. Basically that guy is completely in the blank on how to handle the economy. He simply says, we are in this mess, because the lenders were very lenient. Fed measures such as interest rate cut and pumping money into the banking system is causing the dollar to fall thus further weakening the economy.
I say, we all write to Bernake that some 10, 000 immigrants will buy homes if we all get a GC. 10, 000 may or may not buy a home, but let us just polish the numbers a little bit. 10,000 * 300,000 (average home price) = 1 million billion dollars . Actually the total figure is 3 billion $$; enough to give a massive jolt to the sagging economy. I think we should also write to Wall Street journal and all major news paper organizations about this.

I don't quite understand these "citizenship" worries. Am I missing something? You are not required to keep W2s for more than 3 years. You can apply for your citizenship on 6-th year and list your employment after 1 year of having GC. So you appear on interview showing last 3 W2s and that's it. Why would it lead to denial of citizenship?
