Hi All,
I have just signed up for $20 contribution per month. Already contributed about $250 dollars until now.
I tried to get many of my friends in OHIO to enroll, but they just don't trust these efforts. I tried to convince them a lot but, they think everything will be resolved automatically and especially does not want to contribute even a $ for these kind of efforts. It's a shame on us that we tend to be the same backhome as well as here. Just use and use for free and never contribute anything back.

May be a dumb question.. no offence intended. Isn't there an option to convert to PERM while retaining the original PD? Nobody wants to risk it for the fear of losing PD if PERM is denied?
BTW, my BEC labor got approved two weeks after I left the job. But I didn't lose too much in terms of PD with PERM.
My labor certification (Traditional EB-3) is stuck in BEC since last 5 years. It is completely beyond my understanding why it took so long for BEC to process my case. Now everyone is rejoicing USCIS's decision to accept all green card applications, but I am paralyzed with the fear of facing another huge backlog on I-485 applications. One government agency sits on our applications for years and another government agency throws us further back in the line to cover up its blunders and guess what who pays the price: WE RULE-ABIDING, LINE-WAITING FOLKS.
Even if I get my labor approval before September, I will be among the last persons to get labor certification in spite of being the one with the earliest priority date. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than suing DOL BEC at this time. We may not sue DOL on their inability to clear the backlogs, but we can definitely sue them in their utter disregard to FIFO procedures (mind that some people with priority dates in 2004, 2005 have already got their labor certifications, but some with priority dates in 2001, 2002 are still stuck). When I read on their web site that they have tried to maintain FIFO, it makes me feel like puking.
I am also disappointed with IV's attitude towards the backlog victims. I do not remember anything concrete done by IV to address the grievances of backlog victims. Now that they have won the battle with USCIS, will they have time to look at us?

As forewarned by the original poster - it's not for the weak of heart.
Other disclaimers that should be added:
- Be prepared to lose a LARGE chunk of what you "invest"
- It's *really* not an investment in the typical sense of the term - generally equated with the buy-and-hold patterns.
- If indulging in it yourself, be prepared to be *very disciplined* and devote a good chunk of your time. This is *MORE* than a part-time job.
- I would seriously advise anyone considering this to use "play money" (paper trade, simulations, whatever... ) for a while before playing with real money.
- Most advertised "trading systems" that guarantee perfect market timing will inevitably result in you surrendering your hard-earned $$ to the street.
- If the only exposure you have to trading is through the media, or worse - through hollywood - reconsider.
- Once again: the risks are far greater than you can imagine, and may have an appetite for. Nevertheless, the odds are way better than gambling & lottery.
If you're still willing to give it a serious consideration - best of luck!

(1) I found a unique way to cope with the stress of our immigration nightmare.
through Day trading??
(2) It is not easy and it is not for the weak hearted but the rewards are wholesome and tremendous.
(3) Now lets Play !!!!!
Have you just tried to sell Day trading to IVians?? LMAO. I am sorry but I disagree that Day trading is an investment. Day trading is risky business and one needs plush amounts of cash as SIPC/SEC will not release the money on the same day. Don't even get me started on the margin accounts.
I agree with (2) and would also like to point out that the risks are also substantial. One can get addicted to day trading and I dont need to tell what addiction can do to any one. It needs time during work hours. ie 9 30 am and 4 30 pm. A lot of people did day trading during the dot com boom and recently with FRE & FNM. We know the results.
While you might have taken refuge in day trading for the stress immigration has caused, it can be a serious double whammy/nightmare if the calculations go wrong.
All said, if you feel that there is enough money to be made and normal Joe Bloggs can cope up with the pressure, please share your thoughts in detail.

I was able to talk to a very nice IO at TSC. He even offered to check where my file is and no wonder it is not assigned to an IO yet. He placed a request for file to be assigned. He also told me that case is preadjudicated. Not sure what to infer and how useful these requests initiated by IOs at TSC are as last week when i spoke to TSC the office told me that he is initiating a request to send me second FP notice but this officer said no need for that as FP are current but need uploading in system, he said he is issuing another request to upload the biometrics as well ( i did FP in NOv 2007). NO idea how will it go but case not assigned to an IO is not a good sign, will still hope for best.

Hi abhishek101. Thanks for your reply.
I am working from NJ Home office for a company which is in LA, CA.
Paystub: My address mentioned on it is my NJ Home address. The company's address of course is LA, CA. The taxes which they are deducting is CA taxes.
Based on these replies would you please be able to give your suggestions. I await suggestions and comments from others as well.
---------------------------------
Deadline = April 30th, 2011
Goal = 5000 votes on survey (see I-485 filing w/o current PD thread) and momentum to continue with this campaign. The survey is a platform to gather and push for launching action items. Based on response by 04/30/2011 - IV will decide whether to even proceed with initiative or not.
Actions - 1) Vote on survey.
2)Email ivcoordinator@gmail.com with PD, ph#,email & subject "I485 filing impacted,
3)Print/Circulate Fliers and spread FB, wiki link (see "support thread")
SGP are you working at Client's site in NJ or are you working from Home for a company in LA, CA ?
If you are at Client Site then you need a LCA for NJ and no need for address in LA., CA
If you are working from home, then you have to check what does your Paystub say, if it says that you are an employee in LA, CA you have to find a home in CA.
It is from my understanding of the law. Other's please comment

Hi,
My wife needs to change her status from H4 to H1 as soon as possible (before 31st of March). Her current status is -
- H4 on passpost (expiring on 19th March)
- H4 extension approved till 2010
- She has an H1B approved till 2010 (no I94 with the approval notice as it was done when she was in India)
What are our options? These are what we know with pros/cons. Please add/correct.
1. Go for stamping to India.
This looks like the safest option as this is first time stamping. Both Mumbai and Delhi have 31st as first dates available for appt. Chennai is open but we have heard rejection rate is high. Please comment.
2. Go for stamping to Canada
She does not have a US degree and we have heard that first time stamping is difficult without it.
3. Stamping in Mexico
We have heard that first time stamping is generally not recommended.
4. Change of Status within USA
This is the easiest but will take much longer, at least 3 months or so.
Any suggestions are welcome. Please let us know as we are trying to formulate a plan so we can minimize rejection risk and get H1 stamp/COS before 31st.
thanks!

90,000 VISAS
Our contacts in Washington have told us that there is a growing chance of a bill to recapture as many as 90,000 visas. The language of the draft bill that we've seen calls for a full recapture of the unused visas from 2000-04.
EVERYONE should contact their Congressman and let them know just how important this is
The above Email i got from Hammond LLC
What are you talking about? which bill? what 90,000? Care to explain???

Hello everyone,
Here's my situation. H-1B for self and H-4 for wife valid through Jan 2010. However our respective visas have expired in Dec 2006. So we'll need to get restamping next time we leave the country. We intend to travel to India this Summer from May through July. Ideally we would like to get the stamping done then during our stay in India. However there is a complication (isn't there ever) since my wife has an employer willing to sponsor her H-1B (starting in Oct 2008). I heard from the gurus here that this will be a COS from H-4 to H-1B and it is strongly recommended not to travel when a COS is pending. I think my options are as follows :
1. Get H-4 visa stamping in India in June while there. Assuming we do a premium processing for my wife's H-1B in April and travel to India after the decision is made (say by May), will there be any problems getting the H-4 visa stamping for my wife in India since we want to return in July before her H-1B starts in Oct?
2. The other option is to get a new H-4 stamping done before applying for the COS in April. This will be either done in Canada or Mexico I guess.
3. Another option is to straight away get the H-1b stamping for my wife in India instead of H-4 but that will cause her to wait in India through October which we would like to avoid.
Personally, we would like to do the first option, just get the H-4 restamping done in June and get back to US by July. But since she'll probably have an active H-1B starting in October, wondering if that will cause any issues when we go for the H-4 stamping.
Thanks!

Any reasons for R2i?
Is it your EB3 wait?
With a Jan 03 PD it is sad to see someone giving up after a 7 year wait and coming so close to getting current.

I agree totally!! I understand the need for IV not to lobby for just one community EB2 or
EB3...but the fact is that all we see is movement in EB2 and no to very little movement in EB3....the most retrogessed and most in need community is EB3...
For new people like us, how do we get motivated for donation and all these things when we see rest of the people who are doign this still waiting for months to see some light at the end of the tunnel??
I think what would help is an action plan by IV stating what they would be doing in weeks or months to come....
may be do a campaign like a flower campaign or something to really get the attention if not this beginning of next year, when we think that CIR may be moving....
I think we are lacking an action plan here....and may be thats what we need for new people to get motivated towards....
Well Pappu, the fact of the matter is nothing has been done specifically to help EB3-I/C/ROW. IV may be EB agnostic but EB3-I seems to have been stuck forever to the point of despair.
I and other EB3s have donated to most of the IV causes and campaigns. We have written to our Senators, reps, sponsors and co-sponsors of bills but nothing has helped.
If IV renews its focus to help EB3-I/C/ROW then you can expect more contributiuons from EB3s.
I do not want a lesson on EB3/EB2/EB1...there is no end to opinions on this forum. What I and other EB3-I/C/ROW want are results. Contributions, meeting the lawmakers, writing to politicians etc will kick in fourth gear if there is a reasonable advancement of dates for EB3-I/C/ROW.
BTW, your and other IV leaders' efforts are very much appreciated. All that I am saying is that IV should be focused on EB3-I/C/ROW (through tagging recapture to a bill or something) now that EB2 is getting help from USCIS spillover.

Mr. Nathan I have a great deal of respect for you and all those who have committed themselves to driving IV and all activities it is doing. But what you understood from my post is entirely wrong, and I have to explain why, because if this is the misconception you are having, not about me in particular but everyone who is not involved, then it definitely needs answers.
As I already clarified, I had stopped worrying about GC, long time ago, not after getting EAD.
I bought a house when I didn't even start my current GC process.
I went to India (Chennai) in my 7th year for H1 extension stamping (after completing 6 yrs of H1 and before I even filed 485). I didn't postpone it till I got EAD.
I left my employer who had filed for my labor in 2004 because he started acting up at the end of my project and started GC process with new employer well into my 6th year.
I do understand some people run to IV only in time of need. But all I am saying is not to paint everyone with same brush. Even if you think about people who want anything to do with IV only when there is need, lets try winning them over rather than stating the obvious and ridiculing them.
rkg000,
I dont have anything personally against you. For the last couple of years things have changed dramatically for the worst. If you are on H1B you are facing lots of hardship and it doesnt matter even if you are genuinely employed and in status. They used to ask only for client letters and now it is laundry list. Till 2007 things were different.
All the information is available in the IV's about page or wiki. There are people who genuinely do not have much info but there are people who do not want to participate. Because its not going to help them immediately until its going to bite them. Until then they do not see the value for their investment.
The frustration and disappointment is about them. You cannot wake up a person who is just pretending.

Thank you Chanduv23 for your participation in the advocacy efforts. It is heartening to see that members who have received green cards take the active role of advocating for changes that their fellow immigrant friends are not yet out of.
We have shantanup, vin13, and chanduv23 - all received GCs last year - all three have participated in the advocacy efforts in the past - and here they are again! Thank you.
This should inspire members who are still waiting to get their GCs to be in DC.
