Guys,
What do I make out of this? U think once assigned to an officer thgs shud start moving? Or...even after getting assigned to an IO thgs can go bad? Has any thing of that sort also happened? Just curious so I can be prepared...
Thanx
When I Spoke to the IO on August 2nd he said that case is assigned to an Officer as of July 28th. I am still waiting.
I think it depends upon where your file is in the Pile of files assigned to a officer.

I am in a similar situation. My wife who is on H1B did not worked till date.
Is it possible if she carries the vacation letter from the employer and go to India for H4 stamping? My wife do not have any paystubs.
I have also contacted my attorney and waiting for his response. I am running out of time due to the GC priority dates being current. If the attorney does that while she is in the country, it would take around 4-6 months. By then, the priority dates might be retrograted.
I believe you have a answer. Please respond.
Lawyers manage to do it if you are within the "unofficial" no paystub permissible timelimit. Or They manage by getting vacation letter etc... Contact a good lawyer.

We are willing to answer any questions that you might have...........but please signup; set a target and start ASAP. Worst case you will end up walking instead of running.

There have been a number of publications that have shown that the vast majority of the "illegal" immigrants actually pay SS and Medicare taxes. They also contribute to federal and state tax regardless of the benefit that they receive from it.
Well it is against the law to employ illegals and this is enforced strictly, so we can forget about tax deduction at source, SS, etc. It will be minuscule. These so called publications are from their supporters which they have numerous of.
majority of the farmers especially in the South are willing to hire American workers but have had no success................ An American I met a few days ago was telling me about how he was unemployed for almost 3 years. He is a well educated person and didn't think it made sense for him to find low-skilled labor!
I am aware of that well publicized stunt. Do you know we have only 800K farm workers and 1.5 million farm workers were granted amnesty in 1986?
The only way to get cheap labor is with short term foreign contract labor, amnesty will never work, they have to return anyway.
The farmer will stop working in the farm, the day he gets his GC. Lets not compare an educated american. A citizen with no schooling would take the job at the right wage.
The reason there has been this huge push for health care reform is that it becoming a huge drain on the system. About 60% of bankruptcies in the US were due to medical bills.
There is no proof that the new bill will reduce costs at all! It will take many years to realize it anyway. Reform was needed but not at this moment when there were bigger issues that needed fixing in 6-12 months.
we, too, like the "illegals" contribute to a system that we cannot benefit from anytime soon. (Like social security and Medicare). We do need to push legislators to come up with a good immigration policy. Bashing another immigrant because they came here to do something different from you is not going to get us very far. Be compassionate towards those people too
We are not like illegals. The only one who is like them is an illegal employee at a gas station or grocery store.
My aim is not to bash them, I hope they can find a solution. Citizenship is not the answer and I'm tired of seeing all immigration bills partial to illegals. They should go to the back of the queue and get reform only after legal immigration is fixed. Their supporters are hampering our efforts. The sad news is they thought they could get amnesty like 86, but most will end up being deported.
Do you know of the 400,000 deported this year 50% were convicted criminals?
Compassion should be preceded by what is better for the US. There are millions of poorer people in Africa and India who need more help. These countries have better farmers too.

House GOP threatens to blue-slip bill (The Hill)
By Jonathan Allen
Lawmakers are shrouding themselves in a thin slip of blue paper as deep divisions on immigration policy are again being laid bare.
House Republicans have threatened to deliver a blue slip rejection of the Senate immigration bill, and Senate Democrats are blocking efforts to circumvent that maneuver.
The result is a procedural paralysis that has prevented the two chambers from even naming conference negotiators, a clear sign of the difficulties facing proponents of an immigration overhaul.
The Senate-written immigration bill contains tax provisions, violating the Constitutions requirement that all revenue measures originate in the House. Any House member could object to the Senate bill on that basis, forcing debate and a vote on whether to reject the measure outright.
Ways and Means Chairman Bill Thomas (R-Calif.) is considered the most likely to raise such an objection, but any number of House conservatives would be happy to kill the Senate bill. To avoid that fate, Senate Republican leaders want to bring up a separate House-passed tax bill, gut it and replace its provisions with the Senate immigration bill. But Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has objected to that maneuver.
Reid said he is concerned that using a House-passed tax vehicle could invite the introduction of unrelated tax cuts into House-Senate conference negotiations. If President Bush wants progress on the bill, he should tell House Republicans, Dont raise the blue-slip issue, Reid said.
But Republicans say the problem is Reid, not the blue slip.
Unfortunately, the minority leader over there, Harry Reid, continues to stand in the way, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said yesterday. I think he ought to quit playing politics.
As lawmakers engaged a new round of finger-pointing yesterday, one thing remained clear: The immigration bill is stuck.
Conservative Republicans are dead-set against the Senate bill, which would beef up border security, establish a temporary-worker program and allow many of the 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants in the country now to become citizens eventually.
The House version focuses solely on border security, and many House Republicans say the Senate bill would grant amnesty to millions of immigrants who broke the law to get here.
But proponents of the Senate bill say the blue-slip threat is merely a distraction, one of a number of tools the bills critics could use to thwart its progress if they chose to do so. If the will exists to strike a deal, they say, procedural roadblocks will not be a problem.
Some technical blue slip is not going to stop any resolution that we come to, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a chief proponent of the Senate bill, said yesterday. Lets not get caught up in the minutiae and the weeds.
McCain was among the leaders of a bipartisan core of senators who struck a deal on the immigration bill and then shepherded it through the Senate last month. Sixty-two senators, most of them Democrats, voted for the final bill.
The legislation drew harsh criticism from Senate conservatives, many of whom voted against it. Even if Reid were to allow GOP leaders to move forward, there is no guarantee that Republican senators would not use procedural weapons to stop action.
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) tried to kill the bill on its first trip through the Senate.
Sessions sent a Dear Colleague letter yesterday in which he urged colleagues to study the details of the immigration bill, particularly the number of legal immigrants it would allow into the country in future years.
It remains deeply flawed, he wrote.
Republicans hinted yesterday that they have other options for getting around the blue-slip problem.
Theres always a Plan B, said Eric Ueland, chief of staff to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.).
In 2000, House and Senate leaders circumvented a similar problem by appointing shadow conferees to a bankruptcy bill and attaching their work product to the conference report on a separate bill, according to Walter J. Oleszeks Congressional Procedures and the Policy Process.
But alternatives and timelines were in short supply yesterday.
Things can break loose at any time, Ueland said.

Looks like approvals has slowed down further.
This is why at the end of the year there are unused visas. All due to inefficiencies of USCIS.
We are doomed.
You guys noticed that the approval rate has really slumped on for EB3 ROW?

GCKarma,
How do u know that CIR is dead..? I could not any information on the link provided.
I do not know any thing like this where people on H1 (I am not forgetting L1s and others .. :) ) have come together and voiced a request to hear our problem and reduce retrogression.
I wish this goes forward .. Plan B, I think SKILL BILL (?) must be put in to thought.
Yes I read It wont come to a debate until the current one is resolved. I also read , the effort will continue until this problem is looked in to and helped.
CIR may not be completely over ... but discussing Plan B would be good.

The reason I gave was financial loss. I said I'm the only bread earner in the family with a dependant wife and daughter.
I called up thrice, since the first two reps did not even open a SR. The third person was good and he transferred me to I guess a level II rep. She sent the expedite request.
..and this is just what I'm thinking that, it all happened due to the expedite request. It's very much possible that it could have happened on it's own..
Good luck..
