Based on results Bro' -- whatever it was that she thinks you communicated to her during that 2 seconds caused her to make herself scarce from your vicinity (and you stuck around a while to see if it wasn't just she went back to bring some stock out, right? Face it - you WERE interested.)
Agreed, I was interested from our first conversation, but I don't think that a creepiness was exuded through a glance across a store, but maybe I am just naive. She went in the back, I found it a bit odd (and I was disappointed), I would fully admit I did want to TALK to her again, not much else to this point though. I don't know the girl so it isn't like I want to sweep her away or do anything fancy. I didn't stick around and wait for her to come out of the back either, that would have seemed creepy even to me. I didn't alter my actions or plans around her being at work, or not being at work, being present or not, etc. I have been there two other times, without her presence and I actually spent longer in the store talking to the Genius' or other employees trying to figure things out. Oh, and if anyone is wondering, I have not, and will not, ask her work schedule or hire on another employee to help me gather information on her, not my style.

looks good, but as mentioned the voice notes & calculator have the old icons. probably just an internal 4.0
Looks like it. Expose by shaking looks awesome (who the hell uses shake to shuffle?!). Wish they would bring that in.

At first read I was going to be skeptical....I mean isn't this just cold fusion?
Having read through the science on this now...we'll this is pretty interesting.
The main hurdle appears to be the actual application of this into some type of consumer device...and that being cost effective at the end of the day.
If this works out..yea, we are talking about some major changes....
Why are these guys in Utah though?

Why can't the A4 display the 9 screenshots, as per the video, it's hardly taxing?
I don't think anyone doubts the machine can do the expose effect (the iPad 1 does it in Safari just fine).
There are plenty of reasons it might have been turned down for their final switcher implementation. One, the final iOS allows a variable number of programs to remain open depending on their memory requirements. The expose implementation implies that 9 can be open. That's inconsistent UI. Two, as others have mentioned, you can't always tell the difference between apps at a glance from little screenshots. So they went with icons in the end.

Here's the gist of the problem: too generous state worker union pensions. I wouldn't be surprised that these pensions are extensively re-done to drastically cut its cost in order to reduce state budget deficits.
Really? Union pensions are the sole cause of states with financial problems?
So do you have any theories about why states without unions are having the same financial problems? Are these union pensions somehow crossing state lines into South Carolina and causing our budget shortfall?
And do you think that unions haven't already offered a cut in pensions and/or numerous other concessions?

You can't boot XP from CD on a Mac. You can't you can't you can't. The Mac boots using EFI, which XP doesn't support.
You need to use Boot Camp to install it, as legacy BIOS emulation has to be loaded specifically for XP.
Incorrect information. Move along.
Mac Pro already contained the legacy bios emulation built into the EFI (bootcamp has nothing to do with this) from the factory. You can boot directly to a XP CD without loading bootcamp. Bootcamp is a collection of drivers.

Same thing I was thinking. The ramifications of this.
However, one question that intrigues me is Europe's mini-USB adoption with cell devices. How will this factor in?
The standard says it's OK to implement via an adapter. Apple just needs to put a 30 pin to mini-USB in the box and that's it.
The line-in port on Macs does not have any power to support a microphone. This is why the Griffin iMic exists.
Yes it does. It supplies a small amount of power to polarise the electret mic in the headset. It;s not really enough for a 'proper' microphone, and the port is high pass filtered at 200Hz, so it's better to use the USB/30 pin for quality audio instead.

Take a look at the light bleeding in the lower right. I'm thinking of returning it, and getting another unit. Thought I'd post first to see if this is normal with all units.
I don't have one, but my Sony Panel has the same problem. It's the technology that does that

What do you use to monitor the temps? I haven't found anything that works yet.
What problems *do* these EFI and SMC updates fix, exactly? BTW, according to the SMC update description, it will update it to 1.7f8, while according to System Profiler I already have that version. Must apply to to the first batch of models only?
Edit: firmware update successfully applied, no SMC update in SWU for me.
i use Temperature Monitor.
it monitors each core temp, and the hard drive temps only (same for my macbook pro)

I was just listening to Biscuits & Bach on iTunes, and they went to Davidson College Presbyterian services at 11:00.
OMG.
I was dumped with guilt in the first 5 minutes. "Jesus did this for you...", "God did that for you...".
Who asked Them? Not me, not my parents, or their parents, etc.

"AT&T may 'periodically modify [their] promotions and distribution channels.'"
Not so much doubt cast, unless one believes that such periodic modifications are random and mercurial.
AT&T sucks, plain & simple. They've been allowed to score big w/ their exclusive iPhone contract, and think that marketing will remedy the problem.
Wake up Apple.

And the world is full of computer super users like us?
If they do it through the App Store it will be a download that you double click and it will either:
A. Make a partition it can book off (AKA restore partition - not a fan personally, i'd delete mine after installation if they did this).
B. Ask for a USB stick or DL-DVD to be written to to allow installation normally.
It will be a minimal click affair. Steps: Where do you want it installed from, enter your password, get a cup of tea.
Once that step is over it will continue as the DVD would one it has restarted.
When developers download and install Lion from the App Store, it does create a recover partition. No need to burn it to a disk or restore to USB, but of course you can if you want.
I would gladly pay a $15 premium to get Lion on a flash drive. DVD-based installs are just too slow and painful.

What do you guys mean no student discount?
Is that only on launch day or is that a permanent thing now at Regent street? First it's the iPods that don't have any student discount and now the OS? That's a little too harsh don't you think?
Here's why, it's something like 75 on their Apple.com/uk for students, but if you look at the US Student price it's only $65, so..... I'm getting screwed either way!! With or without student discount it's WAY too expensive in the UK.
Ok, so, when I saw the line of people circling the entire building, I was more impressed about that and wanting to know JUST how long the line of people actually was than getting Leopard. See, I can just pick it up from anywhere else if need be or today at apple or tomorrow... I don't need the insane people trying to cut in and giving me attitude when I can simply wait a few days and then get it nice and calmly.
Anyway, I think Apple should have opened up their apparels store again. With so many people buying apple products so enthusiastically, why not open up a section in Apple store for, T-Shirts, watches, badges, stickers, pins you name it. Like they once had. I think it would sell very well, if only they'd do that.
But, what you are saying is that the Regent Street isn't offering any Student Discount on Leopard? At all?
And there were no deaths reported yesterday during the premier!! That's probably the best news huh?
;)

Damn, if it has the same graphics engine as the ipad 2 rendering'll be a bit more than the 9x faster than the iPhone 4 (lower pixel count)
What the heck are people going to do with that sort of performance? That'll bring AR to a whole new level. 2x overall speed increase? It's already plenty fast. It's going to be a bit ridiculous - at this rate the network bottleneck is going to get even worse.
