I kinda feel like we should at least have the option to not have every element of our gui bogged down with image files.
I was thinking that it would be cool if more of the UI was plain openGL and less image based. how cool (although impracticle) would it be if the entire gui was 5 channels. R, G, B, alpha, displace. Then the os could load ONE metal image, and all the sliders, buttons,wells could be smokey glass(slightly transparent, dark grey, and displaced the image behind it like a glass of water.) that would be more open gl work but less loading of images.
that would reflect the realitive increase in graphics processors comprared to regular ones.
sometimes I just wonder how quick an update to the classic interface would fly on a modern machine

I wish Expos� would have been in iOS 4. I really don't like the current multitasking option.
I like it on my iPad but expose would have been much better.
Also, using gestures would make much more sense with expose; plus I think its a better experience overall. :)

A developer friend of mine tried to download the previous dev release for my system (iMac G5), but it wouldn't install right for some reason. It would hang on restart. I had to re-install from the CD and re-update everything. Even tried disabling all my hacks and startup items, but it just did it again. I believe it was the combo version (2117 I think). I'm thinking it didn't get download right or something though, because he was able to get it working on his (Intel and PPC), a friend of our's (dual G5 PowerMac), and my Mother's (Intel mini). Hoping the new one works better, but if not, at least I know how to fix it. :rolleyes: When it works though, it's fast. Real fast.

But I didn't put a smiley because it wasn't really all that sarcastic. It was a pretty straighforward comment about how Macrumors posters are temperamental and sometimes hypocritical.

I'm sure that this works for a lot of people, but not me.
I travel frequently in the Adirondacks where there NO AT&T service, not even Edge. The whole concept of the ADK region is for it to remain pristine forest and mountain, unspoiled by cell towers. That concept isn't going to change without a NYS Constitutional Amendment, and that is not going to happen in our lifetime.
I think the whole point of having GPS on the iPhone is to be able to get maps as needed. Garmin is missed the boat.

I find it so ironic that caps are the norm now and companies seem to be adding streaming services daily. It's a freight train headed in the wrong direction...data overages are becoming more and more likely.
It's complete and total BS man. Then on their commercials that basically advertise "HEY YOU CAN STREAM NETFLIX FROM ANYWHERE!!!!", but then when you call and complain, they tell you that they don't recommend doing that. I hope that VZW does get the iPhone, offers a better or unlimited data plan and AT&T declares bankruptcy. That's what I hope.

Not at all. As I said, I have no inclination for either Joe or RATM, or most chart music in general to be honest. I just thought the 'campaign' was pathetic, and still do.
It will be interesting to see what gets played more on the radio over the next week. I have a feeling it won't be RATM, which will indicate how pathetic and meaningless this whole 'campaign' has been. This is what I have been getting at all along. Someone will need to let me know though as I don't listen to the radio much either.

If anything, this has helped the music industry, the thought of actually rebelling against the conveyer belt "machine" being the xfactor has actually inspired people to buy music, getting more people interested in the competition and reducing music piracy. People have supported who they want to win by buying the songs, unlike before, where a few thousand people would buy Joe's song, and the xfactor would win. If anything, Simon Cowell should be happy that there has been an interest in his and RATM's song.

I wasn't presenting anything. I was addressing your argument as you presented it, which was vague and absolute. You argued war is responsible for all important innovation. It is really easy to pick apart a claim like that.
And I don't know what world you live in, but most ppl I've ever met never thought they would get cancer. Or at least not until they are very old when many ppl get it anyway b4 they die. Certainly not young ppl and in a couple of years.
Well, the stats are 30% of the world's population will get cancer this lifetime. Over 10% will die from it, making it responsible for more deaths than any war. So I thought it was funny you were arguing that war, because it causes death, will instill humans with a special urgency that will allow us to develop a cure for something that causes more death.

This isn't a fake, I just think it's a prototype. Besides you can pretty much guess what will be in the next iPod touch. It's IOS 5 we don't know about. But it is good it's got 128gb storage however we have seen prototypes with bigger storage before that have never been released :( I am still hoping the iPhone 5 will have 32 as the starting point then 64.

What do you mean here, to "spend some of his money for the economy"? It's not like Trump will donate half his profits to pay down the debt of the United States. Like any other wealthy person, he's doing his best to increase wealth for himself. And it's far more likely that he'd implement policies that would help to increase his ability to accumulate wealth.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, when elected as governor of California, told the voters that since he was already rich he wouldn't be beholden to special interests and made it seem as if his wealth would give him an advantage in tackling the budget deficit that the state faced. Eight years later, the deficit remained unsolved and Arnold's accomplishments as a leader could best be described as mediocre.
The talent and ability to accumulate wealth is different from the talent and ability to govern. Please don't confuse the two. And please do look more deeply into Trump's background. He is far more of a self-promoting huckster than he is a leader of the people. Donald Trump is in the business of Donald Trump, and this is simply another opportunity to spread his brand.

Hopefully this will address the issues some users have seen with the Mac Pro apparently not being able to boot beyond a black screen when using the XP disc to boot from. Although I would think that is more an issue of GFX than firmware on the Mac Pro...maybe they're the same thing!
Also, why two different downloads? Surely they could be incorporated into the same file...
