My son was on H4 and joined undergraduate course in Canada last year. He is Canadian permanent resident too. As per July VB, I can file for I-485. My question is:
1. Can I and my wife file I-485 as AOS and file I-824 to change AOS to CP for my son, so that he may file I-485 as CP from US Consulate, Montreal, Canada?
2. If not, what are the options?

I think it is a very good point. It was rediculous for some to get the GC in few months while others from other centers were waiting for years and still waiting. There needs to be some order to this madness and when got a chance this needs to be brought to attention.

HIGH-TECH EMPLOYERS get lift from House Republican letter to Speaker Pelosi urging passage of immigration bill to help "attract and retain" high-skilled workers. But in the poll, 56% of Republicans earning more than $75,000 annually would "strongly" or "partially" agree with candidate who would bar illegal immigrants from path to citizenship.
Look at this. Even when the conversation if totally on "high-killed workers", there is always and has to be always, a line or a sentence about illegal immigrants. Somehow, you cannot discuss anything about anything unless you have one line about illegal immigrants. The only sensible reason to discuss illegal immigration in same topic as "attract and retain" the "high-skilled workers" is that if there are people who are high-skilled, need to be "attracted and retained" and also happen to be "illegal".
So folks, look around yourself, do you find anyone who is "high skilled", "illegal" and also need better laws to be "attraced and retained". NASA folks and folks from silicon valley, please check the cubicle next to you to find an illegal rocket scientist or an undocumented microchip designer. Those damned illegal rocket scientists and doctors.

I think its high time now that we do something more concrete rather than send flowers/Pijjjaaa/ Vada Pau/ Pau Bhajeee/Medhu vada etc etc....
Form small teams who will start interacting with men who matter...make a roadmap among themselves and start discussions or convince the men who matter that its high time we get things moving

I hope it does some good to you and makes your PD current/closer so that you dont eat/sleep/drink VB. C mon man... There are other things you can do. Dont get offended by what I am saying. If your PD is closer, I can understand your excitement. But a lot of people are just killing time in forums by working their ass off on predictions and call it comic relief. Lot of people get stuck in the name check in AOS, and many of them wait for at least 6 months. I am wondering if someone may get stuck in namcecheck and may have to wait for months in home country while doing cp?

Yes, I agree - my experience has been the same. The customer service representative insisted the receive date was whatever showed up in the online status, even though it was ~45 days after the receipt date printed on my receipt notice.
Btw, I have a question about background/namecheck. I remember reading someplace (official) that fingerprints are valid for a period of 15 months. Now imagine this - at the end of that period, you are fingerprinted again, and while the background/namecheck is in progress the "annual lottery" period opens up in Jul/Aug/Sept. Is that file skipped again since background check is pending?
Regardless of what laws USCIS vouches for, I believe this is what happened during last year "lottery season" in Aug/Sept. My background check was completed and entered in the system mid-Aug., while the USCIS ran out of visa numbers a week or two later.
Anything is possible my friend. We are only trying to understand (from remote) what may be happening. No one there really has any well defined method to manage cases. Their annual report tells how many cases were processed, and how many visas were given away. There is nothing to vouch on this report if it was done in any genuine and sensible sequence. Monthly published processing dates, as we all know, are approximate. They are not updated regularly as no one really knows how to determine those dates (Extremes "no one before this date is pending" and "at least one case with this date has been processed, may differ by several months/years?).

1) strategic, honest and commited leadership
2) strategic think tanks
3) High moral and ethical ground
4) Dedicated volunteers
5) high volume support from affected masses
6) Strong communication network
7) Constant flow of required finance, its control /management and proper
usage
8) strategic organization
9) strategic intelligence
10) Simple but valid and highly effective fighting methods.

I bought whole life insurance for my wife year ago for $300k from PRUDENTIAL, monthly premium is $116/month but $72 went to admin. and tran. charges. Although I paid $1276 last year, my balance was $476 after 25.2 % return on funds. whole life has surrender charges apart from hefty financial charges ,so you can not withdraw when you want.
I took $1500 loss and canceled my whole life insurance policy since I do not want to waste 70% of my premium as a financial charges.you are feeding for a company and agent s getting heavy commission on this.
Buy term life insurance and invest in Vanguard Index funds for investment purpose.

Now that Desi consultant companies are under scanner, i hope employees working for them get their long overdue justice.
H1B has become synonym for visa abuse bcoz of these moron's. I hope the system comesout clean.
Rather than targeting small H1 consulting companies...they have to target big IT firms with thousands of L1 visa. Thats bigger then the H1Bs...There is only 65K H1B per years. No one knows how many L1 visa they are issuing every year and there is no accountability.
Also the wage is too low.

NSC EB2 140 is July 5th 2007 (my friend got approval yesterday by filing in Aug 2007)
Clear your cache and then reopen browser - you should be able to see MAY 15th update.
