Senior guys, if you don't like a thread, ignore it, the thread may be of interest to some people on the forum. So let those people talk. Also since nothing is happening on the immigration, what else public will do other than 'Time pass'???
I am assuming that you have gone to school and taken some exams/tests. Did you study during your exams/tests or did you study and prepare before your tests?
After doing all this "very important" discussion about Rs/$ conversion, if you get sometime, please read some news about immigration bill to find out that there is lot of activity going on with the immigration bill. Most of the time anti-immigrats are calling and putting pressure on lawmakers who support any sort of immigration bill. That is why McCain, Brownback and many others backed out. Anti-immigrants are working overytime making it look like as if their opinion is the opinion of the entire nation. Each person is making 20-30 phone calls a week. But it is ok if none of us is doing anything. Lets all "time pass" and have this very important discussion about Rs/$ eachange rate variation... right?
Communities/groups/societies who do not understand the need to organize and standup for themselves always perish. Durbin-Grassley bill is just the beginning of the time for this high skilled immigrant community to disappear. Reason - When any group of people increases in number there is always another group which becomes its natural opponent/adversary. This community of over a million people also have very powerful opponent/adversary. That opponent is gaining strength and working overtime to purge all of us. But that is ok, let us talk about Rs/$ conversion rate. Anybody here from Uruguay or Morocco??? Why don’t people from Uruguay or Morocco and all other countries of the world join us in this VERY VERY important discussion about the recent exchange rate variation of Indian Rs/$. If not expunged, it will FOR SURE pop up immediately they punch your name in. You certainly can not lie there. You will be deported. If expunged, you still have chance BUT NOT to lie..If the form ask " If you have ever been arrested" say yes and as others suggested have all your documents ready from court but make sure you have all originals and notarized documents if required for all court orders pertaing to your case.

I am writing this on behalf of a friend whom I helped him in e-filing his EAD& AP Renewal.
I too had the same situation. Before it gave this message, it gave a warning, Middle Name is not entered. Since it was a warning, I ignored it and went to the next screen, but there it gave the same message as you got "are still suggested fields not completed on the following forms".
I veryfied each and every field and tried 3/4 times, but every time the same message, out of frustration, I just some middle initial and submitted, then it worked.
But actually there is no middle name in my name. But the form got submitted with the confirmation.
I called the USCIS and told them about the same problem, they asked to submit a letter asking for correction of the name along with supporting documents. SO I have submitted the same.
Actually I have applied both EAD and AP e-file simultaneously. Both are Renewals.
I have received the receipt for EAD, but not for AP. Also recieved the FP notice for EAD.
I called USCIS again, said about not received the AP receipt notice. They said, they have mailed it. but I said about the middle name problem and said not received yet. They said since I submitted a letter for correcting Name, that will take care of it. For not receving the Receipt notice for AP, they said, they will mail a new one.
Exactly after one month(Whichi is yesterday), I have received the replacement Receipt Notice of AP, but suprisingly the receipt number on this is mentioned the actual Receipt number of the EAD, but clearlt mentioned this application is of Case Type I-131. So I called USCIS again and said about the wrong receipt number, they gave me a confirmation number on the case and said, wait for 45 days and call then if I don;t receive any update on this.
Actually, I dont know how to tackle your issue but I went ahead and certified my 131 efile without putting MI as I dont have it. I am waiting for my receipt now. I think, its an USCIS application issue.

Agreed...it is personal decision...but for Indians...it is a difficult decision. The way India is growing....People who have lived here for more than 10years...are migrating back....i know a person who left...has warned me...just to earn and get out.....not good for kids future etc....

Literally, we must have the 'staying power' to do this. If people wanna go back to their home country, it's their personal decision. Impatience and frustration should not be the driving factor for people to return to their home country.

I agree, if you are past 180 days since you applied for 485 and if your 140 is approved, it shouldn't matter if your ex employer withdraws 140 now, though I doubt he would.
This is another example of a bad desi employer trying to screw an employee. these stories make me puke. the employer did not have a problem when you found a project, when you negotiated rates and when you worked with the same client for 3 years and now all of a sudden he is holding you accountable. totally unprofessional . sic.

All arguments are very sensible. No doubt about it. am working on an EAD and they did not incur any legal cost. However, I get frustrated thinking why they charge $180 per hour to the client.... even when the cost to company for me is about $110K per annum or around $60 per hour. I do not know whether I am worth $180 per hour or not....but probably more than $60/hr since they can charge $180 / hr
We really need to analyze this deeply if we want to come up with a strategy....

Ideally , if you want to find out how much you should get/worth , put yourself in the market and do interview and try to negotiate and see what the range you are being offered . You may not take the offer but at least you will know where you stand.
Be aware full time ( with all benefits) and W2 / C2C/ consulting rate are very diffrerent and another dimension is region for different rate.

There were many I-485 applictions from EB2 ROW from 2005/2006/2007/2008 pending (some stuck in namecheck, some just filled in rack and some waiting an IO). All these applications where getting approved in 2009. Recent trend 2008/2009 I-485 EB2 ROW apps are getting approved (meaning not many old apps left).
Going forward EB2 India/China should see forward movement (and if i can esitimate right big numbers for year 2010 if recession continues).
It could be true that those ROW app will be around 22k so no cut off dates adn there will be very less spill this year. So really slowdown in economy helped them a lot. Next year if economy continue to be slow then it may help india lot. but not 100% it will clear backlog.

Even I was thinking on the same lines and discussing with my friends. My son travel with us using PIO. But I was thinking to apply for the OCI.
Now the question is Pros and cons of OCI on PIO.
With OCI pro is
- one can live in India as long as he wants.
- Donot have to pay NRI fees in the school and colleges.
Cons -
Indian law will be applicable, means something happens US government won't do anything.
Rest of the NRI rules are applicable, no right to vote, limitation on kind of investments
Guys this is all I know, put more together so that everyone of us in the similar situation can make a decision.

What is the benefit of applying for an OCI card for the kids and how long does this process take?
the kid does not need a visa to enter India. Also, if you go on a visitor visa, then your stay is limited to 180 days at the max. On an PIO you can stay how ever long you wish to, but after 180 days, you need to register with the district police station to get a certificate of extension. this is usually valid for about 2 years. you can renew that every 2 years.
If you are on an OCI, then the above restriction on PIO does not apply. You have all the prvileges of an India citizen, except that you cannot vote and hold agricultural land.
I am not sure about sutdying at Indian citizen rate. You might have to pay the fees in USD, if i am not mistaken.

Filed I-140/485 with RD August 7th Sch A, EB 2. No movement on the I-140. Any suggestions? Should I seek premium processing?

Yes, I got a CD from USCIS with all my I-140. I requested for copy of I-140 approval notice corresponding to I-140 tracking number SRC.XXXXXXXXXXX. This is the same number I got from my employer for online tracking on USCIS website. It took over 4 months. I submitted this as soon as got approval on my I-140. If you dont have the tracking number, you may try to get your A# from employer or attorney. You can use the same reason that you are changing address or that you need it for visa stamping. I believe they ask for A# in visa interview form.
I have heard that few people got the tracking number using Infopass. Not sure how. I would suggest, that do not delay. Submit the FOIA form with whatever info you have. They might be able to pull your records based on the SSN# or I-94# etc. No harm in trying. I didnt had A#, so I left it blank.

If you want to own a gun, own a gun and follow proper procedures and laws related to gun ownership. You can be afraid of every little thing before you get your green card.
If you are going to immigrate, then immigrate and assimilate with pride and dignity and stop being afraid of every little thing that might eventually lead of revocation of any of your immigration statuses.

It's a well documented point that face-to-face meetings have the best chance of influencing lawmaker decisions [based on survey of Congressmen offices]. Letters come next and E-mails with addresses come the last. E-mail by anonymous senders are ignored. Hence the insistence on more face-to-face meetings.
If you don't know it already (which I doubt), sending a large number of anonymous E-mails, and making a large number anonymous posts in any forum is considered SPAMMING. IV will never participate or encourage such SPAMMING activities which will harm it's reputation (and don't help the cause too!)
If you think President is too busy to read our letters, why do you assume Bernanke is having all the time in the world to read anonymous E-mails and letters? He should be super-busy monitoring the BAD economic situation.
Regarding, "EB2 (I) and world advancing" if the trend continues its a good news for many, and lesser wait times for others. However, keep in mind that the swing will reverse soon, and dates will move back once we reach the end of the year (oct). PDs will be swinging wildly back and forth , like a pendulum, from now on. But don't count on it helping you. It's like a lottery. You may get it, or miss it. Until visa numbers are increased ,a large number of us, unfortunately, will continue to be stuck in the backlog and will be motivated to participate (once we have missed it for 2-3 years, we definitely will be more appreciative and more active).
No need to make melodramatic statements like these "people who oppose an idea(and take extra effort to shoot it down) are much worse than those who do nothing ". Nobody here is stopping you or others from doing what you deem right. We are just "suggesting" that it's not a good idea. You are free to ignore our suggestions, and do whatever you like. We too have the "freedom of expression" to make suggestions. Don't we?
first of all a big THANKS !! for doing the above. so basically we come to the earlier point - if there are not enough dedicated members (due to laziness, family priorities etc etc) then we can try the next thing i.e. send letters / emails to whoever cares to read them and pray that something happens.
as of now (and in my knowledge) IV is only sending letters to the President - who is obviously a busy man and maybe the letters dont even reach him.
and hence maybe IV should start campaigns to send emails / letters to other important people (Ben, Paulson, Realtors association etc etc ) and hope that the word reaches important people.
there is bit of urgency too ..as EB2 (I) and world start to advance ..you will get less volunteers (who take the effort to write and email)... let alone people who will take a day off to meet congressmen.
maybe people can just send emails or post messages related to legal immigration on websites which have articles on housing, economy etc ..what is needed is leadership at top to direct people (rather than concentrating on one campaign only)

Let us differentiate ourselves. Legal immigrants include people who come here on family based PR petitions. We are Highly skilled legal Immigrants.
IMHO, WE SHOUD USE "WE ARE HIGHLY SKILLED LEGAL IMMIGRANTS" INSTEAD OF "LEGAL IMMIGRANTS". Going by what is happening in the hill and elsewhere, this distinction will work favorably for us.
