Because Office 2010 uses MAPI. Its WebDAV that has gone away.
It has NOTHING to do with protocol. If Windows Office uses MAPI, put MAPI in Mac Office. It's not rocket science. Point being - it CAN be done somehow. They choose not to do it because they are sabotaging Mac Office so it's always going to be inferior to the Windows version. Anyone who doesn't see that is, to use a term, a blindfolded stuck in the basement asleep Stevie Wonder.

Wow, I expected PPC support to drop in a few years, not a few months. Sucks for anyone with the Quad G5s. Sucks for me with my dual G5. :(
I hope this won't be a common trend.

While I wish the AppleTV supported DLNA, that's not really directly comparable to AirPlay, is it? DLNA seems to be a "pull" protocol and it seems to be more closely comparable to iTunes Home Sharing.
AirPlay is more of a "push" protocol.

You may have to go into a store to get it
I preordered mine on Friday online and had yet to receive the key this morning, even though they say itll take up to one business day to send (its been closer to a week). So I just went into a store, told them I hadnt gotten my key, and they printed a receipt with a key on it. Downloading as I write this. :)Thanks for the insight. I got 2 beta keys last weekend, gave one to my friend Cass. However, I preordered online on tuesday so I could get a key for my friend Cass, also 'cause I am moving between now and the release. But since I can't go to a store, my mom said she could pre-order it for me, since she is already at the apartment I will be moving to. So I will be getting a key for my friend Hasan thanks to my Mom.

ahhh,ok.misunderstood..You bring up a good point..I think if more Windows users realize that you can run XP natively on Macs now, they may be more likely to switch knowing that they still have their "security" blanket..

Just for those who thing this is a hand-slap kind of thing, I worked on a project where someone leaked an industrial design on a product and the FBI arrested them and they were facing 75 years in federal prison for it. This kind of stuff can get you more years than killing someone.
Depressing, but prolly true. Corporate muscle and lobbying power to protect their profits is more important than the taking of a life. Topsy-turvy, eh?:p

I don't want a boring DVD. I want Lion to come on one of those cool MacBook Air-style memory sticks, only compatible with ThunderBolt.
I too think a USB installation stick would be cool, but easy to lose, I'd imagine! On the flip-side, you can scratch DVDs.

This survey is seriously flawed. I've been unable to secure an AT&T iPad within the 3 stores near me.
Verizon iPad? They have them, at all combinations. Wi-Fi? Hit and Miss, but AT&T iPads are gone.
Maybe they made way more Verizon iPads? Seems like they would not??? Also, could be that so many iPhone customers in the US are AT&T, they are just naturally migrating to what they know.
I know... many here don't like AT&T, but does the average non-techie care?

Apart from the streaming fail, Garmin are way too late to the party. Even when everyone was criticising TomTom, I went and bought it and it (for me) is the ultimate GPS navigator. Free map and service updates, no streaming involved, full multitasking support, been flawless in its navigation, accurate in its info (time of arrival is almost always spot on) and there's traffic when I want it for longer journeys, albeit not free.
The mapping display also doesn't look like a Scooby Doo 'toon unlike the Garmin app, judging from these screenshots...
I bought TomTom, too. Relatively happy with it, even though I was a big Garmin fan before.
Agree with everything you said. If they port over an exact copy of the Nuvi GPS, heck even the basic one, I'd pay for it.
I would never buy a true GPS app that needed to stream, regardless of the price.
Garmin made their fortune with standalone GPS devices, it's a shame they didn't have the forethought to know that everyone but older people would be looking to integrate GPS into their mobile.

Correct. Wikipedia has a good list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_generic_and_genericized_trademarks) of generic (almost certainly no longer enforceable) trademarks and genericized (commonly used generically but regarded as defendable) trademarks.
Apple let this go and next thing they'll find themselves defending is a term 'iPod', because it has become as generic as Walkman. Frankly, not many guys know that there is a computer company called Apple which is the only manufacturer of iPod. I showed my new iPod to couple of my friends and they asked whether it is from Sony or HP

Hong Kong, Japan & a few other countries have been using technology like this for a while. Hopefully it'll start being mainstream in Western countries soon.
Hong Kong uses a SMART type card for everything, transport, vending machines, etc etc.
Japan uses their mobile phones, AFAIK :P

In fact, DVD pricing is not the most important factor for Walmart and I suspect Target as well. Both companies employ sophisticated marketing techniques to draw customers into the store and get them to part with more money than they originally intended to spend. Brand-name promotions, item placements and even Walmart's "don't ask, don't tell" return policies are examples. The use of loss-leaders, selling products at a small loss, has proven to be one of the most powerful customer draws. DVDs are the numero-uno loss leader draw of most Walmarts, particularly those in the broad midsection of the country where it's often difficult to find a video rental store, much less a Tower, Borders or Virgin Atlantic store. I recently spent the summer in the Hill Country of Texas and became quite familiar with the Friday evening surge when customers would stream into a Walmart to pick up a DVD for the weekend and then decide to do a little additional shopping "seein' as they was there." I think the stores are rightfully fearful of the loss in foot traffic and the consequential loss of impulse purchases if movie downloads become popular. For the same reason, simply openning up an online store will not insulate them from losses since the profits accrued from DVD sales don't generally arise from the DVDs themselves, but from the additional shopping that is all but inevitable once you enter the store.
Yep, it's similar in Best Buy and other places with the weeks newest CD releases. Normally a few CDs are on a really good sale and others are not so competitively priced. Good thing I can control my impulses... for the most part.
Anyway, unlike my CD collection, I would be quite happy with a terrabyte unit to store all of my movies so I could just scroll through some list on the remote and playback any given movie for the evening-- or download something new. When the iService gives that to us, it will be quite nice.
