What do you mean? My father was an engineer and he started his Bachelor of law at age 58 in 1996 in India, after retirement. regular college, which only 10% pass out off.
I'm only comparing the economy and education not the culture.

Look at it this way -- An additional quota means more regular EB visa's to go around which will help all. Asking to give 20k more GC's for US Graduates will sound more easy on the ears than asking for a general 20k increase.

I think Meera Shankar needs to be fired. Its bloody 2010 and this is the kind of customer service the indian consulates provide - they dont pick up calls - it takes them a month to issue new passports - Always feel ashamed to be an indian any time I have to deal with these useless consulates.
The Houston consulate does not even have their address properly listed on their website.

I think that people are talking about a combination of things that makes a contry attractive. Chicago is cold, but that's just one of the many live cities in the US. You have options here.

Guys thinking of moving to Canada - i have one advise. Try to work there for a short time - maybe 6 months and then see if you really want to immigrate to Canada. (Maybe as a consultant)
It is a beautiful country, no doubt. But opportunities, racial tolerance, good standard of living etc, all need to be considered while making such an important decision of one's life. Immigrating for reasons other than above is going to back-fire and a lot of lost-time and heart-breaks.
I have said this earlier and am saying it again - our home-country should rank much higher in our priorities than going to a country other than the US. I have been living in the US for a long time, worked in Canada for enough time to offer such advises.

I will use it surely when I come across a good opportunity. This is a provision provided by USCIS just for the specific purpose of changing jobs, so why do you anticipate any issues with using AC21 with in the guidelines for using it. I would also consult some one (best one will be a lawyer in my view) who has done this and has good knowledge of this to make sure everything is in order. Best of luck and enjoy the little flexibility AC21 provides.

We have shown the CA (Chartered Accountncy) equivalent to both a US bachelor's degree and a US Masters degree with an expert opinion letter. As far as I know they have all been approved. We have detailed research and we suggest the attorney cite it in the brief as well because that makes the case even stronger than just citing it in an evaluation or expert opinion letter.

Two years ago; Grassley sent a questionnaire to the top 10 Indian outsourcing companies of how they use non immigrant visas.
They did not have any legal obligation to answer his query. They answered his questions by non answering it.
Grassley then starts to increase the rhetoric and starts pressuring uscis/dol to start investigations.
uscis/dol start investigatin and denying cases and study it and find fraud.
now; Grassley is getting his way and starting to change policy.
Nascom senses game is over and come begging which is exactly what grassley wanted in the first place.
At the end; he will get these guys to agree to tough measures (ie., lca requirements for L-1; tougher measures on h-1b, etc.
See how Microsoft answered differently when they got the query and compare to these guys.
This system created in USA has a way of making you conform to their behaviour willingly or through long and painful way. Looks like they had to learn through long and painful way.

TB test needs min of 48 hrs to be read and if positive, you HAVE to do a chest x-ray. the immunizations are ok.
get her here on the next flight and get the medical done nxt week.
i had my medical on june 26 and i had to literaaly storm the office of the doctor to get my report done, and i mailed to my attorney......oh i can never forget that day!! it was a race against time. and am glad its over.

Do you realize that this duplicate App is going to increase the turnaround from 90 to 120 days ?
Please put some thought man - USCIS clearly said that FEDEX/USPS signed receipt is acceptable proof for EAD/AP filing in one of the FAQ's so if its get rejected out of USCIS error you can refile later.

I dont believe Indian govt can help in this...Lets first gather people and we will let you know the next course of action. There are bunch of people in Face book who got struck up in visa delays. I am trying to reach out to them. Its big group...try to get them here. Please contact those people...

What, are you 4 yrs. old man? If one works sincerely towards the cause, then he will realize the answer themselves, please try & think about that. Please help us work towards the goal. Nothing happens overnight, hope you are old & experienced enough to realize that or you must be an armchair quarterback. Please listen to "Time" by Pink Floyd & get your priorities straight.

It is not true that Many people have to wait 10+ years to get gc. May be some people might wait for 10 years because of frequent change of jobs , layoffs and also ignorance of green card processing. Most of the time EB2 waiting time is 2 to 3 years. Indian EB3 is in worst situation but only for past 2 years and before that everything was current. For that also most waiting persons filed I 485 because of July VB issue. In my opinion EB3 PD will be backdated up to 5 years.
Also there is no legistrative activity in Congress about any immigration issue. Always skil bill comes in limelight when congress is in Session. But everyone knows that skil bill is asking too much in H1b and immigration numbers because of exemptions and it will be very difficult task. But no one in pro immigrant community is ready to compromise on numbers. When Congress tries to curb the abuse of H1b even pro immigrants are opposing the bills without any suggestion of any alternatives. If some bill comes for only GC that too moderate increase in numbers that will have bright chance of passing in congress.
You should not expect any rally will produce meaningful reform. It has to be proved that additional immigrant and H1b numbers will produce more jobs and it should not create unemployment in americans.Just sufferings of gc waiters is not enough. My opinion is Rally will be used to show strength of IV and may educate public and Congress. But anti immigrants also doing Similar Campaign(not big rallies) by negative points of immigration. The same congress till the end of 2008 and I doubt they will consider any immigration issue till new congress comes in 2009 that is not too far from now. But it is always good to try all the time.
Before any reform comes most IV members may get GC.

Whether we can able to make the Congress and Senate work on CIR during this fall or on 2009 is irrelevant.
But we can make huge impact on their mind that they have to address this issue, they can not simply ignore us
Just think about that if our fore fathers (freedom fighters of any country) thought about immediate results then they wouldn�t fight for it and get the independence.
In an old say that a person who plant a tree will not get the fruit of it and but he/she did it for the future generations.
So please participate and get this momentum going
Also there is no legistrative activity in Congress about any immigration issue. Always skil bill comes in limelight when congress is in Session. But everyone knows that skil bill is asking too much in H1b and immigration numbers because of exemptions and it will be very difficult task. But no one in pro immigrant community is ready to compromise on numbers. When Congress tries to curb the abuse of H1b even pro immigrants are opposing the bills without any suggestion of any alternatives. If some bill comes for only GC that too moderate increase in numbers that will have bright chance of passing in congress.
You should not expect any rally will produce meaningful reform. It has to be proved that additional immigrant and H1b numbers will produce more jobs and it should not create unemployment in americans.Just sufferings of gc waiters is not enough. My opinion is Rally will be used to show strength of IV and may educate public and Congress. But anti immigrants also doing Similar Campaign(not big rallies) by negative points of immigration. The same congress till the end of 2008 and I doubt they will consider any immigration issue till new congress comes in 2009 that is not too far from now. But it is always good to try all the time.
Before any reform comes most IV members may get GC.

It�s not about GC for the IV's member or for the core Team, It�s a momentum and we want to keep it going and fight for it
Many people has switched the job because of many factors they have faced during their employment and are forced to start all over again to get the GC, It is not ignorance on their part, it is manly because of the broken GC process.

In Florida, one has to show an EVL before they give the one year "temporary" license. I wonder what happens when your H-1B expires and your renewed H-1B has not arrived, sit at home:confused:
In one word - YES !!! the DL office in georgia would not renew my license even 1 day early ..my old EAD was expiring in 6 days and I had my new EAD in hand. went to DL office and asked them to renew ..they said come when old license expires ,,I said I would need to take a holiday just for renewal - they said - not our problem.
I said - I would be driving on expired license when I come to DL office ..they said talk to immigration ..I said do you know legal immi and USCIS is broken :)
I told my manager ...these guys cannot even add 2 plus 2 ...(old ead expiring on 5th and new one starting from 6th )
