Hi All -
My post has no relevance to this thread and my apologies for that.
I have been trying to find the latest CIR thread by Pappu (where he talks about it being introduced) from last week (or the week before ?!) but was unable to locate it.
Could someone please point me to that ? No matter how bleak the chances are for it's passing, I would still like to follow it since it's our only hope at this moment.

I got my passport renewed at CGI - Chicago. I mailed the passport docs out express mail on thursday. Reached them on Friday, monday was Columbus day, but to my surprise my passport was delivered exactly one week later. I recieved it on friday of the next week. Total time from start to finish 7 days. No mistakes on the passport either. I was very impressed. Anyway I heard that soon passports are being outsourced to TCS?
I cannot find a forum for CGI-CHI passport renewal so I posted this here. Many a time people only post when something goes wrong, for once everything went right!

In my case (see a few posts up), it took 70 days from e-filing date, and 36 days from FP date, to get to the "card production ordered" stage. So I would think your time line is about the same so far.

I filed my EAD at Texas office as i live in PA
Paper Copy reached on 04/08/10
Checks cleared on 04/15/10
text message with receipt number on 04/16/10
Soft LUD with date change on case status on 04/20/10
What's surprising is the receipt was issued out of Nebraska Service Center even though i filed at Texas lock-box as i currently live in PA.
My I-485 was submitted at Nebraska. Maybe that could be the reason.

I came to USA 7 years ago and still waiting for my GC. But I bought a nice home after 1 year, simple reason that I can claim the taxes & mortgage interest. Also I was bale to put my kids in a good school district. Who cares if I get GC or not, that is not my end of my life. Myself and my family live a happy life in a 4 bedroom house with big backyard and have the peace of mind, after all what we are going to take when we leave this world. Let us enjoy the life

We face problems of backlogs, and career uncertainty. IV is offering a solution, if implemented, it will bring relief to all. IV needs your help to deliver what you and I "NEED" AND "WANT".
HELP IV HELP YOU.
We need heavy participation on the lobby days, I need volunteers from different states to ask me "How can I help?" instead, I am trying to find volunteers! I have been able to persuade members who have received GCs to help out, but getting members who are still in the mess are either unaware of the advocacy days (in spite of the thread running on the home page for the past month) or are not ready to talk to the employers to take the two days off. Capitol Hill runs on weekdays and therefore it is necessary for you to take the time off.

I'm telling you, most likely even if it retrogresses. PD will go back uptil 2004-2005. Most cases are filed after 2005 March.

If the Obama stimulus package passes, do you think the US steel sector will benefit from it ? If yes, then which companies do you think will gain the most. I think the " Buy American " clause will be there, so I guess it might just benefit the US companies. Which other sectors do you think might benefit from the Stimulus package ?

As a responsible member of Governance of the Department of Labor, could you please explain to the hard working employees who pay Social Security and Taxes and exist legally in the country, why the Department is not processing their applications for Labor Certifications and Petitions for Legal immigrant status expeditiously?
You are responsible to ensure that these applications are dealt with expeditiously and decisions communicated urgently. Current delays and backlogs indicate irresponsibility and lack of administrative acument on the part of the Department. A search online on the internet will be an enriching and educative experience for you and your Department on the efficiencies of your Department and employees.
You are requested to kindly implement processes and policies that ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in dealing with applications. I, like hundreds of others are unable to understand the delay in adjudicating an application with bonafide requests. Audits requests are perfectly understandable. So is the requirement for responses within 30 days. However, what is in comprehensible is the inordinate delay in review of the requested documents and communicating the decision.
I am hoping this Department will take notice and move towards the path of efficiencies soon. It is unfathomable that a Department of your importance is unable to handle requests of a few hundred applications each month. We have heard of US losing the COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. This is just another example of the same. Lack of concern, skills, efficiency and mental wherewithal to conduct normal order of business efficiently.
I am looking forward to you taking the gauntlet and prove it wrong and process all backlogs expeditiously.
Help us take this country of immigrants to its old glory. Help us turn this economy back into the highs. Help us bring America to the edge of Technological Advances, Innovative and breakthrough products, never before seen R&D efforts.

You can just take the 5-10 lines from the report which shows wasted visa numbers from the past years and send it to all lawmakers from all states asking for visa number recapture legislation
I think its just one small paragraph the lawmakers have to insert - They can attach it to any major upcoming bill - This does not create additional numbers or change the existing laws in a big way.
it is not that simple..... lawmakers have been told multiple times of the long waits in eb3..... this information in the report by uscis ombudsman is not a new revelation...... this may be new to some in our group but the guys in congress know it all along.....
most in congress want to fix this backlog..... this issue is just stuck between the supporters of cir and those who oppose all immigrants.... we will have to pick a side..... there r only two teams here, anti immigrants or pro CIR and we have to bat for one side...... we do not have the numbers to claim a new team..... if we r not in the team supporting cir then we r against our own green card application..... that is just the way it is.....

Whats difference in today's bulletin or the ones we saw from Oct. Almost nothing. You should be a fool to expect to hope for anything with the movements we noticed.
I would say this should be taken as a starting point to put some efforts in making the law makers and othere aware of EB3 problems,. I am sure the predictors will now keep their "mouths" shut for the next few bulletin but atleast some of us put some efforts.

We need active participation from members for the action item listed on this thread. CHC member are taking a very hard stand on the 3 bills introduced by Lofgren. If members (esp. constituents) don't call in large numbers and urge the CHC members to support the bills. The 3 bills may not even see the house floor. CHC members want only one immigration bill (CIR), nothing else is accepted.
Please ask u'r friends and colleagues (who are constituents of CHC lawmakers) to participate in this crucial action item.
