My application reached USCIS on Aug 14th.
How do you guys get to track the status online, do you get the receipt and then track it online.
I am from arizona and dont know which place my lawyer filed the I 485 app with EAD and AP. Is it that applications from arizona go to a specific location so that i can go to USCIS website and get some approximate date.

If your kids have SSN then you will probably get around 1200, from my guess. I am sure you will not get for your spouse, for lack of SSN.

Actually CIR was started by President Bush to regain hs popularity. Other than that it is complicated and tough to pass thru. Really lawmakers have to work hard f they want to pass because it is tough to satisfy all. So most of them must be cautious unless it comes up for discusson. Moderate people may try to maintain status quo. If CIR is pendng then all the immigration related items including EB relief will be attached to it(People will try to attach so that it can be delayed as much possible). If Congress starts discussion on Jan 2007 possiblity of becoming law is on May if they introduce CIR. But immigration may not be that much national importance issue for US congress. It does not matter whether an illegal immigrant will become citzen on now or 2009. Economy will not have an impact. Similarly a H1 person gets gc now or 2009 or 2011 the impact will be mnimal for US but impact will be heavy for that immigrant. Also Economy may slow down n 2007 and job demand may go down then it is tough to justify increase of H1 when joblessness starts increase.
I think EB2 will improve much better in coming months and EB3 also PD will move at least a few weeks to few months. Atleast people could extend H1 after 6 years. In 1999 and 2000 people did not have that option and some people left USA and came back after year. So to get gc was challenging atleast for 50% of people for past 10 years. Some people got this easily some time in past.

Not an amended H1. It is an H1B extension for 3 years after I140.
The question is if you have this approval in your hand (whose start date is after your current visa validity) and you return to the country within your visa validity, will the official have I-94 valid till the end of the new approval or till the date your current visa is valid?
According to "Last Action" Rule of USCIS, there is a possibility that your H1B extention approval becomes invalid because the POE gave validity till your visa end.
Seems all so screwed up. But red-tape rules are never white and black.

Hi Mike. Please don't mistake the spirit of this post. By no means is it a "wish" for Nikon or Canon, or any manufacturer to be "on the ropes". The very simple fact is the D2h does not compare to the Mark II. That is from a shooters perspective. Not only my personal experience, but of other long time Nikon shooters I know who are switching. I also know from personal experience of a major wire service bureau who is not happy with the D2h quality as is switching to Canon. My observations are based on my working experience, and that of other working PJ's that I interact with on a regular basis. I truly hope Nikon's next camera and their cameras after that are killer. That would be best for all.

I believe the D2H is a much newer system than the 1d mk2 and of course it will be almost half the price streetwise, so a lot of part time pros will want to consider this body seriously. I seem to rember the 1D did not do well against the D1H, also with half the res, until the 1d started to match the Nikon price. I guess the same thing will happen, only the D2H does have a killer system this time round. Someone mentioned file tranfers to editors and publishing house and mobile connectivity,I think that's where something like the D2H will probably score. Canon are big timers, they will stay the course, at least for now. I don't think hoping for Nikon to be on the ropes will be particularly useful though.

Tell your parents to get an agent who does these things. They normally sit outside the registration office. You might have to give extra money, apart from their regular "fees" but you can get it done! Heck with enuff money you can get a marraige certificate for George and Laura Bush!:D

Prediction is as good as the data available. From previous discussions (EB2-EB3 predictions) - it was predicted to see movement based on the data available - well, I am guessing the data was incorrect and therefore predictions can never be close to being correct.
Sincerely hope that the efforts of this community is to seek for data that is largely correct. I guess, may be IV can ask for the inclusion of advising USCIS to release the correct data frequently in the CIR draft.

Also, the terms of members begin and end on January 3 of odd-numbered years. Under these arrangements, any meeting of Congress between election day in an even-numbered year and the following January 3 is considered a lame duck session.
Why lame duck sessions are bad
Lame duck sessions are never desirable. Defeated lame duck lawmakers, knowing they will not have jobs in the new Congress, either tend to "just go through the motions" while debating and voting on remaining important legislation or, in worse cases, attempt to hinder or even damage the lawmaking process. On the state level, the legislatures of only 11 states even allow lame duck sessions.
By far the most dismal scenario for a lame duck session is whenever one of the two major political parties has taken away majority control of one or both houses of Congress from the other party, as happened after the 2006 mid-term election, when the Democrats won control of both the House and Senate from the Republicans. In these instances, with political tempers already running hot, the temptation for lame duck members to vent their frustrations by working to stall good bills, while turning bad bills into worse laws, becomes even greater.
Why lame duck sessions happen
Once rare, lame duck sessions have become all too common. The final days of the 109th Congress in November and December of 2006 became the 16th lame duck session since 1940.
The typical "target" date for the annual adjournment of each session of Congress is during the first week in October. The target adjournment date has become a total myth in recent years. The first session of the 109th Congress, for example, did not achieve final adjournment until Dec. 22, 2005.
During far too many recent years, the main reason for lame duck sessions has been Congress' failure to complete its work on the spending, or "appropriations" bills that form the basis of the annual federal budget. I went to stamping last october and the VO was very cool. He just wanted to know whether there is EB petition pending onmy name (7th Yr H1B). Didnt bother to ask anything else.
The common thought is they give a hard time to first timers, if you are going for re-stamping they dont bother to ask many questions. You shld be ok, good luck.

When we apply Extension they are asking all the details with Paystubs,client letter.
When we apply Transfer they are asking all the details with Paystubs.

The problem of changing employer you have to hold your current employer untill your transfer is approved.Also the Transferring company they need to wait for one month.

Our effort is to gain clarification and determine the basis for sending H1B employees back to India (or other home countries), and, if this is due to an error of judgment or law, we will seek a reversal of this recent, alarming trend. In addition, a related January 8, 2010 memorandum from the USCIS analyzes the definition of "employer" and "employee" particularly for H1B employees working at third-party client sites. While these two actions may not be related, both demonstrate the current level of government scrutiny of the H1B program. Hence, each employer and employee should operate by strictly following the H1B program requirements.

If an H1B employee indicates to the CBP officer at the airport that s/he is requesting a withdrawal to enter the United States (and return home on the next flight at one's own expense), s/he is able to apply for a new H1B visa stamp either with the same or a new H1B employer and reenter the U.S. within a few days / weeks.

What a crack-head - I didn't know H1Bs were 5-year visas - I guess I've overstayed my welcome...
And to say that everyone stays here is ludicrous - Half the people that started with me on my project have gone back to India for better positions with better pay and the rest have gone on to green cards and some even citizenship. He thinks that everyone stays here after 5 years (???) and then works illegally - like that's possible - idiot!
He thinks a company hiring skilled workers like computer analysts is going to let you stay on past 6 years if you haven’t filed for your green card and jeopardize their reputation and legal standings? They would just hire new H1B workers and kick you to the curb – at which point you would have to work under the table flipping burgers – but I guess the ignorant freak thinks that’s better than going back home and getting a project managerial position, because all other Countries are third world and live in mud huts?
