What I meant is that he has REMOVED that advisory from the site. He has not printed an actual retraction.
I still see his old report there, including "The USCIS hands may be tied, should the EB visa numbers for FY 2007 is exhausted before the end of July."
What exactly has he removed?

sundarpn,
I applied for a new passport from the Indian Embassy in Washington DC in Nov '06 as my old one was expiring. Got the new passport in 2 weeks from the day I mailed the application.
Don't bother calling them . You will not get through to anyone. Just wait it out . It should come in 2 weeks.
Hope this helps.
how about Washington DC consulate?
I am hoping they are more prompt. It has been 5 working days since I sent mine....

Please keep writing your amusing experiences - this thread is an inspiration to everyone.
For those who did not attend - this thread is to just make you feel nice and comfortable about IV folks - we are all sweet fun loving people who are standing up for ourselves.

D. EMPLOYMENT VISA AVAILABILITY IN THE COMING MONTHS
There has been no forward movement of the Employment cut-off dates for November. The reason for this is that it is still too early to see what impact the movement of the cut-off dates toward the end of FY-2007 may have on demand. Depending on the rate of demand being received from Citizenship and Immigration Services offices for adjustment of status cases, some forward movement of dates may be possible for December.

Your long wait at the ticket line is over, now sit back, relax and enjoy the game :D
BTW, does anybody here know is there a percentile or graphical ROW RD distribution out there? Please post the link here. Would love to see how many 485 applications for ROW between June to August 2007.
Hi all,
Just wanted to rop by and say I received my welcome email today.
Been here since 2001, but my company wouldn't let me file labor until December 2004.
Good luck all, and keep the faith.

That was informative.
The wild cards are still the LC substitutions and EB2 to EB3 conversions. Even if a lot of people had to go back to India, is there any estimate on how many of these LC approvals were later sold by the bodyshoppers? Depending on the extent of LC substitution frauds (from what I hear it was rampant) all the calculations and estimates could get completely thrown off. I agree that we should wait for another 2-3 months for the dust to settle. Even the USCIS/DOS should have a good idea of how many cases there are and that will help them control the flow better and that should reflect in the visa bulletins.
Oh Ya, in 2003-4, tons of "Virual Shops" were doing good business and that was covering coast to coast. And that's the problem, you can't tag the numbers to the effect of misdeeds, events bad or good. There was lot of talk aboout Indians going back but you would not find a single legitimate statistical article. but that does not mean we should not count the effect of that event. This mess is so severe, we just can not reasonabley predict based on available statistical data because so many events happened for which nobody has proper statistical data and so you can't tag its counter effects. I give you just recent example of this forum. Here one member Yadabada was just debating based on very logical set and he took the pain to go through all past damn bulletins showing me 2003 bulletins. I draw his attention that "India" was completing missing from the bulletins as "OverSubscribed" categories for most of the year 2003. Why? Now when you start analyzing this in 2007 and if you miss this important observation you start making your prediction base in diverted direction. Even in year 2003 nobody gave it a importance (AILA or whatever). USCIS has as apolicy put India,China,Mexico and Phillipines as "Oversubscribed" categories. Now if you think logically either particular country should have "Current" or some retrogressed date. But how do you interpret a bulletin if USCIS (Allaudin's Chirag) just make one country completely disappeared from the bulletin. Lateral interpretation could be "That country is no more "Oversubscribed" so why the hell it should not be "Current" if not "oversubscribed". USCIS plays this trick time to time. If you see bulletins from 1995, some time you will find China disappeared soem time India disappeared.
The reality is that people started taking bulletins seriously from 2005 only. till 2004 most of us were not giving a damn to those and that is why 2001-2004 lot is paying the price as well.If the cry what we have seen during July 2007, might have been seen during 2003, I guess, probably things may have been little better.

Not sure how this two application thing work, but doesn't this kind of situation trigger unncessary confusion with finger printing etc.?
As far as I know, when USCIS collect the Finger Prints everything will be in the same database and the name check, back ground check etc. starts from there. If you apply two applications then you will get notifications twice? Unnecessary risks and confusions, if I were you..I wouldn't do this.
USCIS is so unpredictable, what if they do back ground check twice and create some weird confusion or one of you get stuck unnecessarily? This is a very confusing scenario. Talk to your attorney.

I am a strong supporter of IV , its cause and one of the state chapter leaders . And I also believe that IV's goal should be clear and focussed, but this is an issue that eats my heart.
What kind of justice it is, where people are rewarded for breaking laws and those who followed it are made to suffer.
We are here in the US not only for ourselves but also for the better life to our children. If we can't give them that then our living in this country is worthless.
I also think that this issue should be part of IV top agenda among other things. The folks in question are not illegal but our very own in EB category. They are the greatest victim of the system. When I look at my sufferings , it is less compared to what these people are going through. My green card may be delayed but most likely will not be denied. Whereas, their green card is as good as denied.
While I am writting this and putting myself in your shoes, I feel helpless and hopeless. If IVians won't help here then who would?

nice posters (soft copy only...authorized by IV....we can print in our local areas) to be placed in Grocery shops (mainly Indian stores mostly they accept) to attract new and inactive members to participate/contribute to this event. I am ready to place it in my area (4 stores I can reach).
Also how about pamphlets (again soft copy..authorized by IV...we can print it in our local) placed in stores for people to pick and read it (some may act on it). May be 1 in 100 will join which is reasonable (not a great) reach.
This is a good idea.
Could you find people willing to help create posters on a new thread. IV can help form a group that would take care of all creating posters, fliers, banner ads etc for this event.

Backlog Centers
AJB to AJE
In anticipation of America's Job Bank (AJB) ceasing operations as a recruitment tool, the Backlog Elimination Centers (BECs) will be switching to America's Job Exchange (AJE) as an alternative site for posting recruitment advertisements for backlogged Foreign Labor Certification recruitment activity. AJE is one of the alternatives authorized by the Employment and Training Administration (ETA). The BECs have coordinated with AJE staff and we believe this transition will cause little if any disruption. According to the description provided by AJB, "AJE will offer the same national labor exchange services that AJB provided [using] the same screens and functions as AJB ensuring a seamless transition between sites."
Because AJB is going to stop operations by June 30, 2007, in order to ensure full recruitment periods, the BECs will switch to AJE as of June 1, 2007. Therefore, employers and job seekers will be able to find the job postings on AJE starting on June 1st. Advertisements posted on AJB prior to June 1st will continue on AJB through their full recruitment periods on AJB.
AJE can be found at: http://www.americasjobexchange.com/

Generally the trigger to cancel previous visa is if you have been approved a new visa. From my personal experience the consulate officer upon determining (after interview etc) that you qualify for H1B will cancels H4. If for some reason you do not qualify for H1B there is a good chance that they will not cancel H4. In any case she can always reapply for H4 if for some reason they cancel H4 without approving H1B which is very unlikely.
Good Luck.
Thanks for the response.
How does one safegaurd against the consulate canceling dependant visa?

Nothing about this behavior is specific to Indians. It is a first generation immigrant behavior. See if you children are going to do it...
Really? An active lifestyle, being outdoors, energetic etc. are qualities of an American? A country where 70% of people are supposed to be overweight? Where some say 30% to 40% of schoolchildren are obese? I would agree with your argument for an active lifestyle versus a lazy one. However generalizing to things like getting up early/running/trekking/outdoorsy etc. as typical American traits is pushing it.
If I want to catch up on my sleep on the weekends, why not? I sleep less than 6 hours a day on average during the week. Sleeping less = poor output and also has been linked to poor cardiac health.
You dont have to blindly believe that everything that is American is good.
For example, Americans work the longest hours of any developed country. Does this increase your standard of living. They have the fewest holidays/vacation days.
Maybe doing things separately is your "American way" of fun. Doing things with my family is my way. What's wrong with that. At least we dont have a 50% divorce rate and dont kick our kids out of our homes when they turn 18.
I go out and meet friends by myself. Why does it have to be all boys? Why do I have to drink beer (yucky/stinky stuff by the way). My wife does the same with her friends. Kid is too youg for this.
My point is you are trying to fit into your image of an american. You will never fit in completely. You are hoping your beer buddies are laughing with you and not at you. Be yourself- however Indian or American it may be.

My friend Achoo,
thanks for taking time to read my long post.
I like healthy criticism, good view points.
I still believe that the points i mentioned in post are true, from my experience;
but anyone else does'nt have to believe in them at all.
Most discussion on topics of lifestyle are subjective and contextual, thats why hard to explain ones point of view to anyone else.
My simple policy is, i donot care how my kids or beer buddies are behaving; i do make sure i do no harm and enjoy my exercise ( marathons) and beer.....
thanks for reading.
