I think it is 45 working days, not counting weekends and holidays, that gives us 9 weeks of time to file for 140, that should be enough in most cases.

There is No sense is passing a rule/memo like this where the consultant/Employee is affected badly.USCIS changes their views and rules on a need to need basis which should be struck down by the court of law.We as immigriants to US and we have every right to fight this rule and also need to support the need to revoke this rule.
Even a criminal gets a chance to plea in the court as not guilty,but we dont get a chance beyond the immigration counters.We continue to contribute so much tax dollars and all of that shouldnt go in Vain.People have lives and Families and they can never build or continue the future invested here in US.
I agree that the rule will make sense for new H1�s or extensions but i dont not agree that it should be passed on people randomly.USCIS should force such a rule on the Employer and not go against H1 Employees.
This Rule should be taken by employers to implement new standards of practicing consulting and not try to find loop holes in the system.Obviously we should have seen this coming which is ripple effect of all the employers exploiting the Consulting business.
H1 or EAD or GC ,All Immigrants need to stand united to fight this fight.

Hi everyone,
I just called everyone on the list.
The one thing I felt once my part was done was my sense of accomplishment - I helped - in the smallest way possible. Trust me - while I consider myself blessed when I read some of our members' story - I still feel like my battle to reaching this point is very poignant.

Your PD is 05/2003... I confidently bet you would not be in a queue for the guys who will go back.:D:D:D. By 4th July 2008 mostly you will be done with this wait hell.. Even if somebody who will be going back wants to track you , you would not be trackable on 4th July 2008.:mad::mad::mad::mad: So please keep patience and help others to maintain the same at least.

I agree with anands26 to an extent. We just need fresh ideas and activities going on while we wait for something to happen.
If we are not able to attract new members at a great rate we should atleast make sure we get to retain the existing strength.Word of mouth can only get you so much.
How about making professional grade media clips and posting the link on different websites? The one on IV we have now looks amateurish and doesnt quite do any justice to the org(with all due respects to the person in the clip). Its all about the outlook. People will tend to take us more seriously if we can do a few slick video clips with statistics,interviews(with different nationals) and such.Recruit an (not so expensive)Ad agency.Seeing is believing.It could probably boost the membership level too.Lets not sell ourselves short.

The submission for namecheck is generally made to FBI 1-2 weeks after your Notice Date. (The date one's data is entered into the USCIS CLAIMS3 system)

U can either call the 1-800 # or make an infopass appointment 4-6 Months after your first FP. If u plan to call, make sure u call 3-4 times because you might get conflicting info

I never have and never will like the idea of being asked to pay, I give what I can unasked. What of the people that by circumstance do currently not have these amounts of money to spare. I should not have to feel excluded nor should I have to explain my very personal reasons why to everyone.
Have you guys looked in the forums lately, people are getting "yelled" at and talked to rudely if they do not disclose how much exactly they have contributed. So we are only allowed to an opinion or help if we have money?
I will contribute when I have money to spare, however it seems I will have to leave this organization based on the comments that have been out there before I get to the point where I can afford to contribute. That goes for both time and money, some of us have responsibilities that we do not want to disclose.

Yes, and normally, iPods aren't always on white backgrounds. Last time I checked, my jean pockets were blue :)
I should also add, that the backgrounds are chosen based on what best suits the iPod. Normally Apple displays their iPods on white backgrounds because that's what they look best on, but when they came out with the U2 iPod(which BTW has a modded clickwheel) they have pictures of it on a black background(http://images.apple.com/ipod/u2/gallery/images/u2front20041026.jpg) because that's what it looks best with.
You can't expect people to make tons of unique skins and then not make backgrounds that show them in their best light. A white background wouldn't go with my skin design nearly as well.

Like I said, I did not catch the whole speech, but from what I heard, he was not talking completely against it, he mentioned that businesses need more H1B's and should be able to hire foreign talent.
He was mainly against abuse by big consulting firms (he gave out a statistic that 20K of the H1B went for 8 or 9 of the top consulting firms or something like that).
At least there is something happening..... we have only two weeks....... this may be our only chance this year to attach anything EB

Newer version is - as should've been expected - more protectionist than before.
1) It prohibits H1B workers from working in contract positions.There is a redundant provision for the L1 visa as well (there is already a law which does this for L1). However it doesn't prevent American companies from keeping these contract workers in India or elsewhere and co-ordinate the work through web-conferencing, video conferencing, VPN/VNC etc.
The day this law passes will be a great day for Outsourcing, and a sad day for America.
