I love how so many here buy into this crap and denounce these things as PR stunts with no evidence.

Anyone else think this is a little too public? And it's not a very comfortable place to sit having coffeeno matter how good the food is. I imagine a couple of billionaires could have found a more comfortable and more private place for coffee and a chat, unless they're being deliberately "public".
Is this how they squash a rumour in sily-con valley? Media says these two hate each other's guts. Be seen being nice to each other in public.
Of course.

Unfortunately, I doubt it will change anything regarding our domestic panicking or foreign military intrusions.
I wonder about the 'domestic panicking' actually. So much of it was fear driven and we've just killed the boogeyman, will the American people remain willing to submit to 'nudie' scanners, shoe checks, and fingernail clipper peculation.
It's not like Obama injected the name of Osama Bin Laden to justify sending drones into Libya a couple of weeks ago.
Sure, but going into Libya wasn't for the same reasons we went to Afghanistan, rather it's the reason we went into Bosnia; we're using military force to keep a dictator from killing his own people. It's a different mission with different moral arguments.
The death of the dollar/US economy, not the death of Bin Laden, will end our ongoing wars, whether those wars be abstract wars "on terror," or actual, needless invasions halfway around the world.
There's some truth to this.

You already have a standard for this, connecting any media device in a network.
There is no way to do what is being shown in this video with wifi or bluetooth. (Note that the toys do not have a power source.)

While it doesn't seem surprising that Jobs did all the talking, I would hope that he could also listen a bit and maybe glean some insight on what's going on in Schmidt's head.

Alright, here we go Apple: I *will* buy a 13" MacBook Air on the day of the next refresh if it can have:
- Core i5 processors (Won't happen)
- SD card slot (Already has one)
- backlit keyboard (Good chance it will have one)
- integrated 3G/LTE (Its a laptop, not a cellphone)
- 10-hour battery life to match the iPad (Don't see how the battery can get any bigger)
A tall order, of course, but one can hope.
Hey Apple: I'll still buy one even if you don't quite manage to fit in the last two (but please try to increase battery life anyway).

Got my copy of Leopard and t-shirt! Start queuing about half four, maybe a little after.
I didn't expect that amount of people I mean, I figured there'd be a lot of people, but :D. Also, congrats to the Apple store security people for blocking off the fools who started their own alternate queue from the opposite side of the store entrance. The organisation was crappy though. I don't know how many t-shirts there really were, but if anyone from Apple is reading this, next time someone should probably walk down the queue while it's not frantic and hand out numbered tickets for people to show as they go in.
I can't wait to get home and install it though! The front is so shiny :O

No privatization of UHC but some periphery changes. Conservatives are closet anti-abortionists so things can and will get weird. Damn liberals gave them a majority.
I'd much rather the NDP were in charge but ideally all three major parties need to be more centrist, IMO.
Worst case scenario I was hoping for a Harper minority and an NDP official opposition so that they could balance each other out :D

and look at how many devices you have to do that lol
Yes and they quite happily play the same media from any of my devices with media on without needing a new 'revolutionary' apple standard, why not make apple devices support DLNA out the box.

A very fair point. But even within that (relatively) limited domain, I believe attempting to trademark a 'generic' word (i.e. not an artificial label/title), especially one which was already in common usage in many other companies products is farcical :- to me at least.
To look at a parallel, I think Sony should have fought harder to protect their Walkman moniker, but shouldn't under any circumstances have been given the trademarks "Walk" or "Man". If companies want to protect their trademarks - fine, then they shouldn't choose generic, everyday words. IMO.
So should Apple not have been granted any of their trademarks for use of the word "Apple?"

As for what I meant- I am trying to illustrate how silly and unrealistic and inherently flawed "anti-discrimination" laws are. Lets say I do not hire a guy because he is black. That is my ONLY reason. HOW is that any different than not hiring a guy because he is not intelligent? He can't help his intelligence, it was passed on to him from his parents.
That's completely different. Intelligence is not fully genetic. You can become intelligent by obtaining an education.

Maybe I should upgrade from 2008 to the 2011 version now. Is it really any better?
Oh, and don't tell me iWork. I do not like Pages/Keynote/whatever at all.
Better in many ways. But less stable.

Whoever advised them to not put the maps onboard and download as needed, needs to be fired- poor decision.
Went from Cleveland to Flordia with a download based GPS on my iPhone, had no issues.

They have every right to sue if Apple violated their patent. They invented the technology and decided to protect it, period.
If Apple indeed violated the patent that is true, if the patent itself is valid under the law.
You'd be royally pissed if Microsoft came out with the mPhone which looked and felt exactly like an iPhone...parents exist for a very good reason.
1. When was the last time that Kodak came out with anything remotely similar to an Apple product?
The fact that kodak is a dying company is neither here nor there and has no place in this thread.
This is where you are absolutely wrong. The fact that Kodak is a dying company plays a big part in this because it looks like they are trying to drum up income by enforcing questionable patents. Further it leaves people with the thought that Kodak has given up on being a positive innovator and a company that contributes to both the local and the national economies. Frankly I have a serious question in my mind if Kodak could do anything remotely positive with the money if they did win.

This dock means that the future iPhones will sync throught thunderbolt with macs and with usb 3.0 for pcs!!! I guess thins means macs wont come with usb 3.0, so maybe an adapter would come out sometime...
I repeat: sync to macs with thunderbolt and sync to pcs with usb 3.0!!

Looks valid to me, and makes more sense than their current implementation.
Currently, when you're closing one of the MANY programs that are usually open, you can only interact with the small strip across the bottom of the phone.
Four icons at a time...you HAVE to scroll... and you can't use landscape mode to see more icons at a time either.
(Really a poor UI design as it doesn't make efficient use of the limited available screen space.)
Hopefully, we'll see this soon... (as well as the option for a landscape homescreen..... with active icons. :-/

So can I put one of these new SDXC cards in the back and use that as my boot drive while maintaining the internal HD for data storage?
Would that be better than an SSD?No. The maximum interface speed for SD cards that's UHS-I at 104 MB/s is slower than most SSDs. (Well, slower than SSDs you would want to use as a boot drive.)

how many of us actually care much about aperture...?
A better question is how many people at Photokina care about Aperture, and that number must surely be quite high.

I wonder why I often see signs like this in stores ...
Seems to me that I have only seen those signs at places where excessive inebreation by customers could be a problem, ie: bars, some places downtown in the bar district, etc.
Anyways, if you don't want to sell something to somebody for WHATEVER reason, no matter how ridiculous, shouldn't that be your right?
