One thing that forces you to believe its true is the date itself, why 8 MAY ? it somehow paints a picture that somebody did calculated the remaining visa numbers and arrived at the exact comfortable date. Guys, chances are its fake, but you never know. :)

Best way to get more immigrants to participate in advocacy efforts by immigrationvoice.org for legal immigration is by communicating to international student organizations of various universities around virginia, maryland, washingtondc, west virginia north and south carolina. Arranging busses for the students is not a bad idea. Students once convinced why they need change in current immigration reforms for employment base legal immigrants will participate in huge numbers to attend the advocacy efforts done by immigrationvoice.org as they have more time in hand
What will students get out of it? Their Green cards are not stuck? Are you offering them H1B visa that they desperately want? They do not care about Green cards. They only care for scholarship, a job after graduation and H1B sponsorship from the employer. You are offering nothing from this list.
People whose green cards are stuck should come rather than outsourcing to students?
If we cannot help ourselves and stand up for ourselves, nobody else would.
I am trying to take at least a day off from work. I would lose money from my wages if I take day off but I am ready to lose money for the sake of doing something good for myself and family. Others who are sitting on their armchairs should also consider coming to DC if they want their greencards.

knnmbd,
Let me also repost what I had posted in reply to your post earlier.
knnmbd,
We have spoken to AILA about this and we're regularly in touch with many other immigration lawyers. As logiclife had pointed out the interest of AILA is elsewhere. In fact my company's immigration lawyer told us earlier that it is not in the interest of companies to shorten the green card process.
There are only very few broad minded lawyers like Rajeev Khanna, Mathew Oh and Shusterman who support our cause. For after all if we get our GCs quickly, the lawyers will not get money for H-1 extensions, EAD extensions, AP extensions and so on. Moreover if the GC process becomes simple and quick, many people might self petition and cut out the the middleman.
Another thing to note is that, AILA has very little support from Republicans.

The article is right on the money, but the country is wrong - it is written about Russia.
I predict that the author of the "prediction" will disintegrate before the US.

often times i have noticed that the blissfully ignorant GC applicants come better off than rest of us- who act like chicken with the head cut off after every bad news!!! may be they dont worry too much and look at it from a whole another perspective...who knows...i wish i could be one of those, but i am too far in the game...damage is already done...:D
Yep, It is luck nothing else...

AND ONE MORE THING. THESE PROCESSING DATES ARE FOR RENEWAL APPLICATIONS. NOT FOR NEW APPLICATIONS. FROM MY EXPERIENCE I SAW FIRST TIME FILERS ARE GETTING THEM IMMEDIATELY THAN RENEWALS WHICH WERE TAKING 2-3 MONTHS.
It does not anywhere say that this timings are for renewal. I have my 3rd EAD now. Everytime, I got my EAD approved based on processing times given in the web site. I found one difference, when I filed my 1st and 2nd EADs at California, I got them in 1 month(but again based on processing times). Now the 3rd one, I got in 3 months(again based on processing times)

Please! do let me know if you find any insurance company offering a million dollar whole life insurance for $100 a month!!:eek::eek:
As someone said, you really need good luck finding one!
I never said whole life, term could cost around $100/m if your health is reasonably good at 60's not for heart disease or kidney transplant patience.
If you are not aware you could pass on your term life insurance proceedings to your heir
one of my family member have whole life for $81/month for $1m at the age of 28 in NJ, in this plan we will get back everything we paid after 30 years.

Hi desi3933,
My wife got approval notice from 10/01/2006. Her employer is willing to give paystubs from March 2007. Will this put her back in status so that she can file I-485?
We are planning to resign after she file I-485 at July end and apply for COS with 2 paystubs. Will this cause a problem or is it legal?
Could you please advice?
Thanks
Person can start working after applying for the SSN.
http://www.immigration.com/faq/eadfaq.html#63
>> People who switched from F2/H4 to H1 can consider their SSN application time as valid status.
No, After change of status (to H1-B) approval, person has 30 days (from approval date) to start working.
Not a legal advice

I dont think this bills has anything favourable to legal immigrants... It better to apply as the other category ....
I think someone finally saw the light here.
Cant you guys see the HUGE change that this is. Get out of the whole legal-illegal pissing match. This change will make the US immigration system in line with that of the UK. You get here. You stay here for 5 years. You apply and be granted Permanent Residency. Thats it.
Will that open the floodgates? Sure they will. How will they be countered? By making it very very difficult for employers to hire foreigners. If you are already here, you are fine.
Employers who hire illegal folks will face tough sanctions. the new eVerify system will probably now be mandatory for all. That takes care of those employers who were in the Dont ask, Dont tell (not talking about the military policy towards gays here) attitude. It wont weed out everyone and there will still be some guys who will work for cash, etc but it will reduce this significantly.
Employers who abuse the H1 system will now have to do lots more to prove that they couldnt find a qualified US worker. The desi employers that everyone loves to hate will find it very hard to stay in business anymore.
The big IT companies like TCS and Patni who pay 40-50K to someone with 7 yrs of work exp (like I was) will now be forced to hire from the US market thus eliminating the chances of abuse. Unfortunately it will depress IT wages in India because these biggies will need to show some kind of cost savings to do work offshore otherwise most companies will decide to bring the work back since its just not worth it to handle the hassles of offshore work. But overall it will bring some kind of balance.
All a person now will need to do is get here and manage to hold on to some job for 5 years and you will be through.
Lets see how much of this bill actually makes it out. As far as I can see, I am prefectly fine with refiling my application under this new category. The hell with EB based green cards. USCIS can take the whole EB1-EB2-EB3 and stick it where it belongs.

I received my EAD last month. But no AP yet. However, i received an email from my lawyer today that.....my AP got rejected. The rejection letter is saying that I485 got approved that's why the I131 is rejected.....therefore, my lawyer is waiting for the I485 approval.....but my lawyer told me that I can expect my card soon.
I don't know how to react. The online doesn't have any update about the I485 status yet. They received my application on July 2, 2007.
whats ur pd? eb3 or eb2? which country? ??????

Instead of fighting EB3 or EB2, can we throw up this idea -
Whatever be the priority date - whether EB2 or EB3, a person should submit proof of filing Income Tax from the time they were in US. This way a person who came in 2001 and filed for labour in say 2002 under EB3 - will have higher priority (provided he/she submits Tax filing proof for 8 years) than a person under EB2 with 2006 priority date and filed taxes only for say -4 years. (or the same person who moved from EB3 to EB2 can also benefit from this) i.e. the priority should be determined based on how much a person has contributed to US economy. For the Govt. to generate some money, all GC applicants can be asked to pay a small fee(say $100 per applicant) to IRS to get proof of filing income tax returns.
Just my 2 cents.

Can we have an action item for this? If core agrees and shows us a green signal, we can hit it immediately. I'm sure we can manage a lot of volunteers on this one :)
