so here is a generic friendly email that can be sent out to your friends or to anyone who is interested. please feel free to edit:
Immigration Voice is a non-profit organization that is trying to help people like me stuck in the green card mess, and is trying to raise awareness and membership. Membership is FREE and takes a minute.
Please take a moment to register on their site at:
http://immigrationvoice.org/
Scroll to the left margin halfway down to register.
Please be assured you will get NO spam mail.
What does this do for you?
1. First, you get a warm feeling in your heart because you are helping half a million people simply by registering, since we lobby senators and congressmen by telling them how many registered members are interested in pushing our bills. Numbers count with lawmakers.
2. You will learn enough about immigration issues to qualify as a paralegal simply from reading the forum. Option for a second career for you.
3. You have the opportunity to write off any charitable contributions, should you decide to make them to IV.
4. Your economy, and consequently Social Security system, Medicare, Medicaid and city is better off for helping legal, tax-paying and high-skilled people like us to stay on in your country. Special benefit for baby boomers who will retire shortly and fear the SS system will end. It will not since immigrants are a large source of revenue for this system, and none of us can avail of these benefits, so we will help support you in your old age.
Please feel free to forward to anyone who might be even remotely interested, including journalists, lawmakers, attorneys, businesses and of course individuals.
thanks in advance for registering (FREE) on our site.
Thank you, NYCGAL!!!
One additional thought is, if you feel that you can be more persuasive in person, please talk to the person and convince him of the good that IV is doing.
In fact, I would suggest that we email and then follow it up with a phone call.
Everyone, please try to add ONE Member by December 31st!!!
Thanks.

My interest in the house would be long term investment rather than quality of life.
I beg to differ. House is a BAD investment. Historically houses appreciate approximately at the rate of inflation+1 or 2 % points.(Forget bubble years). Plus the costs(maintenance and property taxes) related to house ownership makes it a really BAD investment. Imagine putting money in an account which gives 2% returns and has 2% maintenance charges!
House is a great place to live in. That is what should be in mind while buying a house.
Another point is that most people are unwilling to spend lot of money on rents to get the same QOL. There is emotional element there called (eventual) 'ownership' but that's only emotional. That I don't care about too much.
I agree. However if somebody thinks living in a bigger place brings a better quality of life, even then he/she does not need to buy at 3 times the cost of renting the same place. He can RENT. By buying you are bringing the quality of life down. At one time a place in my area which could be rent for appx 2000 dollars a month would take about 4000+ dollars to own with 30 year fixed. Reason? because rents reflect the buying power of the resident. Nobody gets a ARM for paying the rent!
If the trend indicates prices are falling this year, I guess people will wait for a year more but at some point people will go ahead, depending on the overall economy start buying because no one can really predict the bottom. At that point, it may even start going up allowing the economy to slowly get back on its feet.
Yes. I am convinced that if you wait another year or so, ratio of cost of ownership and cost of renting will come to some sane levels and that is when people should think of buying. I am planning the same.

The title of the thread is misleading.
IV is already helping. The aim of IV is to eliminate retrogression so that everyone does not have to wait. We also understand that EB3 I is in a much greater mess than anyone else.

Congratulations to all who got their approvals in Sept.
I really need your advise , it seems my case is frozen and no one is looking at it.
My priority date is Aug , 2003 ,
And RD = Jun 17 2007
and ND = Jun 18 2098
My dates were within processing dates for 3 months in 2007, 9 months in 2008 and 3+ months in 2009 but still no one is adjudicating my case.
I tried following
- Enquiry thru Aila
- Service request their toll free number.
- Enquiry thru office of local senator
- Enquiry thru Ombudusman's office.
- Enquiry using info pass
All of these enquiries just send very standard formatted response suggesting we are working on your case get back in 6 months.
Any suggestions?
Please advise.
Thanks.

There is new data available regarding the PERM LC data, like how many PERM has been approved so far, I have tried to copy and and paste, but could not make it work. To sum it up, it is very bad for indian born applicants, while China Mainland is not too bad, since they have far few people in line comaring to Indians.
I can find the link for you guys. It is seems with any policies changes, it will be decades for Indian priority date to be surrent.
If you can please post the link..it will be great!!!!!
and also explain why do you feel it bad for India..

The trend is certainly clear :(. That 'some point' is far far away and nearly invisible.

What's Going On?
Currently Active Users: 243 (84 members and 159 guests)
as you see there are more "guests" than members
c'mon people, register, be members, add to the numbers and to the funds
standing on the sidelines will not help anyone....

I am expecting 2004 EB will be cleared this month. All the 2004 guys just relax and be easy ( particularly SOP ). Honestly i didnt care much before, there are million things better than gc in life. Having said that, its good to have purely for travelling purposes.
If anyone whose PD is earlier than mine, i truly apologize. Its not me, its USCIS. I have seen PDs same as mine getting approved 2 yr ago.

I work for a big 5 Software company & our lawyer Littler Global had taken a stand on July that they will not file our AOS application after the June VB was revoked/amended on July 2nd.
Surprisingly , today we have received a mail from them that that keeping in view our best interest they have decided to file our AOS case in July regardless of CIS receipting them.
Wanted to share this information as it may be helpful for you folks too ...

I arrived at the Situation Room at about 1 pm on Monday.. didn't know anybody and nobody knew me so I was searching for a Core IV type look on anybody's face... Poor 'beenwaiting' was eating her late lunch at what seemed like a registration table and she noticed my dillema.. she promptly put her lunch aside and briefed me on the agenda and my meetings.. Thanks 'beenwainting'...
Next I remember was helping Sanjeev (can u PM me your handle?) with his tie and hurrying with Shivkanth and Sumita (can you PM me your handle too?) to a Senator's meeting. That Senator's staff knew the issues pretty well and it was fun to watch Shivkanth debate with her.
SriKondoji - it was nice meeting you. The reception and the rally next day were a great experiences. Finally I had some great Indian food at the Union Station with Indio0617, Pappu and Dr. Gupta (can u PM me your handle?)
All PA (Philly) members - let's plan on meeting over coffee sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Here are the photos that I tool to 'live blog' the rally:
http://picasaweb.google.com/getrajesh/DCRallyImmigrationVoice
The experience of attending the rally was therapeutic in a way... Day in and day out one is sucked in to the bubble of daily life, work, kids, family..... and on top of it, the thought of interminable wait for GC really burns you from inside. You know you have to go through it and you know there are thousands like you who are stuck too. And then one fine day, these thousand faceless online handles come to life together and in the nation's capital and actually march and meet the lawmakers. This has truly been a great experience.

Why do I get a feeling you are incapable of digesting the concept of "Law of the land". There are certain rules that govern PR & Citizenship statuses ( of all countries)and only land mark & ground breaking edicts can alter such law’s , and that too very slightly. To put it were tersely "this is a bullshit suggestion" and is really wasting the purpose of this forum. The only reason so many people have responded is that it is "THAT RIDICULOUS"
Except you, most of them who responded to this thread like this thought. May be you are thinking too much about yourself as a perverted intellectual. May be it is your inborn nature. Try to understand the meaning of this thread first.

Hi Admins,
Is there any way for members to broadcast personal messages to all online members?
If that is possible, I would like your comments on whether it is a good idea to request online members on a regular basis to join the Add ONE member campaign via broadcast messages.
Also, I was wondering if the IV newsletter has been emailed out to the members. I have not received it (checked and made sure that the email I gave out is correct). I ask this because, one of the moderators has assured me that the 'Add ONE member' campaign would be highlighted in the newsletter. Has this happened?
Please let us know.
Thank you.
